Sutton Coldfield Report written by Jonny Carter
On Sunday morning Charlotte and Jonny took part in a massive litter picking session at Sutton Coldfield train station.
Jonny cycled to and from the session and Charlotte got dropped off before walking back, getting in her daily steps.
GG joined forces with the Sutton Coldfield Litter Action Group and Friends of Wylde Green Train Station for a big litter pick at the front of the station.
You can see from the copious bags in the pictures that it was certainly worthwhile.
In total we filled 67 bags of rubbish, plus around 30 bags of glass bottles hence the pun! On top of all this we found a toaster, road signs, a handbag and various other random items! I'm sure we cleared many years of litter!
In total there was around 30 volunteers from the various groups, making it a lovely atmosphere to be apart of :)

Today's Community Mission down at Hill Hook involved digging out hogweed and dock, so instead of Hogwarts we sort of 'went to Hogweed'!
Yep there was plenty to dig out, but the overnight rain certainly made it a little easier!
Jonny biked 6 miles to the Community Mission and Charlotte and her dad also helped out at what turned into a nice sunny morning :)

Today we were back at Hill Hook Nature Reserve.
The job was to cut the meadow, well not exactly the volunteers job was to rake up all the hay and put it into huge bags. It was certainly a good workout!
Charlotte and her dad John did a great job of raking and dragging the hay for it to be disposed. Jonny did plenty of raking but also under the strict supervision of David from the Wildlife Trust got a go at using the cutter!
You can see from the before and after pics of how different the area looked.
Whats more, whilst doing our 'hay making' we came across 3 toads of all sizes. Unfortunately David mentioned when cutting a meadow there can be casualties, therfore the toad rescue was our 2nd good deed of the day. They were picked up and moved to another part of the nature reserve so that they were nice and safe :)
