Barnsley Report written by James Smith
The plan was to pick around the Keel Inn, though on the way there a huge amount of rubbish was discovered hiding in the bushes at the greenspace next to Barnsley Sixth Form College. This couldn't go ignored! We had an incredibly shorrt run to the location, but made up for this by spending a longer time picking. A range of detritus was found and subsequently bagged up, from a pair of new school PE pumps to old lighters. Whilst clearing the flower bed in the center of the space we were approached by a local lady who commended us on our efforts, and was very thankful. GG was of course well advertised to her! We ended up with 6 bags full and a much cleaner greenspace for all to enjoy. If an area is clean and tidy it is more likely to stay that way. After we were done it was like there had been a **** trash of the titans ****.
We emptied the bags into bins and got some piccies, then were on our way to run some laps around the fountains, before stretching off and patting ourselves on the back.
Until next time!!

Legs 11! Bingo! 11 goodgymers found their way to Golden Hill Community Garden for some weeding action on a lovely sunny, if slightly chillier day than late.
What a load of tools! Choosing our weapon we set to work either weeding a path, around some raised beds or an area of ground making sure to separate the weeds. It was lovely to catch up with everyone doing a worthwhile task and the time flew by. After an hour weed made a big difference and after picking from veg that was going spare we made our way to enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Thanks for the extra pictures that I forgot to take and weed like to be back again soon. Until next time 🙂

Even though it was suddenly a cold day, the sun was shining when we all eventually found our way to the hidden gem which is Golden Hill Community Garden and Allotments. It was great to have Rebecca and Becki join us for the first time, as well as Emma who is a long-time coach runner who is finally getting the chance to join some group sessions too. Lovely to meet you all!
We were met by Lucy who explained to us that due to herself being furloughed and minimum volunteers over the past 6 months, the garden has got very overgrown. We were split into three groups to tackle weeding in various forms: the pond-path weeders, the take-it-all-out path weeders, and the flower-bed knowledge-of-what-is-what-required weeders. While the third group scratched our heads over dandelions, grasses and flowers, everyone got to work clearing the paths, and filling a wheelbarrow and four troughs of weeds in an hour. Impressive! We headed on our ways as the sun starting dipping. Look forward to seeing you all soon!
