Grace completed 25 good deeds with GoodGym.
Grace has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

The Paper Cup Project works to support people who are sleeping rough or experiencing homelessness in Liverpool. They do incredible work getting food and clothing, medical support and, when possible, accommodation to people who need it most. Their next project is to open a cafe which will provide training and support for people wanting to get back into employment, as well as a safe place to access advice and information.
On a rainy evening eight GoodGymers came together to add a little bit of support to the project by scraping off old wallpaper, painting some walls, and up-cycling some stools. We had walkers, runners and cyclists amongst us, and set to working in the dim light (the cafe doesn't have full lighting yet!) with some of us getting more paint on ourselves than the walls!
A huge welcome back to Grace, everyone loved seeing you again!
We will be going back to the cafe to help again at some point, and most definitely to enjoy a cuppa and slice of cake once they are open.

The perfect 10 hit the streets tonight for some plogging in the sunshine!
Plogging is a Swedish concept that combines jogging with picking up litter = it has GoodGym written all over it!
On a lovely sunny evening, a group of 10 met up in Toxteth and set out on a 4km loop of jogging while cleaning up the area to make a more pleasant environment for all. The route took us on residential streets, over green spaces, through a playground and down an alley. In just one hour, we managed to collect 10 large bin bags of litter. Sadly, in some spots it felt as if we were only scratching the surface.
Liverpool is the city that we all love but it has a chronic litter problem, thoughout the city. We are playing a small part in trying to clean up the city's act, but really it would need a whole cultural shift and change in the way we see the streets and our environment.
Kudos to Chris who found Nemo!
Well done to everyone for keeping to the rather bossy pace I was setting for us, whilst still managing to pick up so much litter.

10 GoodGymers braved a rumbling thunderstorm to help maintain the lovely secret garden at the Quaker Burial Ground.
The task at hand was to clear overgrown ivy that was blocking the entrance way and strangling the trees.
Picking a tree each made social distancing easy, just watch out for the frogs underfoot!
A very satisfying and therapeutic activity, peeling the ivy from the tree trunks and walls was a bit trickier than it looked, but in around 50 minutes we’d completed the task.
With a few minutes left Jan from Arundel Avenue Community Garden, who maintain the garden, led us on a quick walk around the garden and a peek into the bee hive.
Thanks to Jo for the pun inspiration, and great to see Kate again for her 3rd Good Deed.
Good job everyone on a task well done!
