Was it the potential to see trains, was it that everyone liked the sound of moving compost, was it the fact we haven't been to that task for ages? Whatever everyone's reasons, it was wonderful to have such a big group.
I left the group at Glass Mill to jump on the bus and we all reconvened at Crofton Park Railway Garden including those that were meeting us there. It was perfect timing!
We managed to fit lots of tasks for everyone to get stuck into including moving the shed which I think had been on their to do list for quite a while. Well done!
We also sorted the compost pile, swept the woodchippings back to where they belong, litter picked and watered the plants!! A lot of tasks done in 45min.
Great work team for getting stuck in and getting the tasks done.

A group of a dozen or so comprised of local volunteers, children and a couple of good-gymers ferrying water up and down a parched hedgrow with buckets and watering cans.
We only had enough water in the container for half the thirsty sapling which had been struggling in the dry weather, but managed to water them all with the use of a piece of string, a metal bucket and the Ravensbourne.
300 shrubs later and with tired arms the hedge will have a chance to get through another few days of hot weather, and I suspect we will be back soon.
Lovely day for it. Good fun. Apologies I’m great at remembering to take photos!
