Last night despite the freezing temperatures the GoodGym Lambeth crew were back out there heading over to Jubilee Primary School to give Juan a helping hand.
The task was a simple one but any help during this time of the year is warmly (!) welcome so the team set about weeding and trimming back the bushes to have the place ship shape for the young learners when they arrived on Wednesday morning.
Our All Star Task Force member Nathan led the run and brought the group there and back in no time, while Marie-Noelle and Paul joined us walking.
Thanks to Kaz, Fi (welcome back!) and Michael for risking your fingers to frostbite and I look forward to being back with you next week for a really fun session - it's Litter Pick Bingo !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night we headed to Canova Hall to celebrate another fantastic year of GoodGyming in Lambeth and we delighted to welcome our lots of the Lambeth legends as well as out friends from Southwark and Wandsworth.
There was delicious pizza, a few drinks, a quiz and some silly prizes to boot.
Notable mentions go to Tilly for nailing the festive outfit and to Jo who AA Yianny finally go to meet!
The quiz was an opportunity to learn a bit more about GG Lambeth and our work in 2023 as well as a few interesting general knowledge questions (an embarassment of pandas anyone?)
Once all was said and done and few prizes dished out it was the Lambeth Awards with Sam & Nathan picking up a gong each for longest runs, Michael getting an honorable mention after his marathon was canceled, Else being newbie of the year, Paul as Ghost with the Most and Tilly for smashing her goals.
A huge thank you to everyone who came out and to everyone in the extended Lambeth community for all their hard work this year and we look forward to the January challenge next.
Have a wonderful festive break everyone.

Last night you could feel something in the air down at Papa's Park, not figuratively but literally as a group of boys were letting off fireworks in the streets and showering us with sparks!
Appropriately we also had a community meeting against anti-social behaviour in the hall meaning we had plenty of company at our introduction.
With Kaz and Will's bikes safely locked together we were able to set off on a pleasant evening run the flat way through Brockwell Park to our venue at Trinity Rise. We were met there by Marie-Noelle, Paul, Alice and one of Nicole's committee volunteers to give all the greenery a big old haircut.
With a decent sized group we set about trimming, cutting, pulling ivy, avoiding spiky bits, barrowing wood mulch and raking it all into place. By the end of the hour a huge amount of green waste was bagged and ready for collection by the council (see pics) and we would head off in different directions with only AA Yianny, Kaz and Will heading back to Papa's and the rest off home for a well deserved rest.
Thanks to Nicole for providing all the tools we could possibly need and see you all at the next one!

We were back at Papa's last night to help out tidying up around the place!
The evening started well with a couple of returning faces after a long time away with both Emily and Charlotte joining us, it was lovely to have you both back!
We changed up our introduction routine by having a story caterpillar - where each runner adds a sentence to the runner before - and in the end we ended up with a tale of exploding bikes, giant peaches filled with cookie balls, stubbed toes and getting stuck in traffic, what a day.
After a quick couple of kms loop we arrived back at Papa's to discover new locks on the gates meaning AA Yianny didn't have the new combination but we were able to get in to get our tools via the netball courts and a few phone calls later and all was sorted - including letting out a couple who had been marooned in the park :0)
Joined now by Marie-Noelle and Paul we set to work clearing along the railings and litter picking to spruce the place up and we also brought out the hand lamps for the first time - fare thee well British summer.....
Thanks to all and see you at the next one.
