Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Amy L (she/her)
Huge thanks to Tasha for inviting GoodGym to get involved with IHG's big month of doing good.
Amy and the IHG team met up outside the IHG offices in Windsor, shared out hoops and pickers, introduced everyone to GoodGym and had a safety briefing. A big warm welcome to everyone from IHG who signed up!
We then split into small teams and headed off into the surrounding area in search of rubbish. As ever, we didn't have to go far to find lots of cigarette butts, plastic packets, cans and bottles, and in about 45 minutes we filled lots of bags.
Extra kudos to the team members who made sure bottles and cans were separated from general waste, diverting some of the waste from landfill.
Meanwhile, experienced GoodGymer Marilyn headed to the nearby Alexandra Gardens. She reported at 2.15pm that she had filled her bag: 'Met some pickers from IHG doing their bit. Collected from large bottle empty Jack Daniels shame, to cans of beer to bits of paper. Worst bit of rubbish was a bag of dogs ๐ poo. Enjoyed it none the less hope your team are doing well.' Sorry you were on your own Marilyn - you did a brilliant job!
Litter picking can be a bit depressing as it opens your eyes to just how much rubbish is out there, but everyone approached it with a positive attitude. It really is RUBBISH, but at least we're doing something about it!
Bin there, done that! Got the matching T-shirts!
If this was your first GoodGym session then we would love to see you again. Check out the listings to see what's happening soon near you.

Thursday 6:15/ 6:30pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
Tonights community mission was for a bit different and the weather didnโt disappoint!
We were at The Pirate Park doing litter picking as our primary task but with some GoodGym awareness thrown in giving out leaflets and a social game of rounders and gathering of to celebrate our achievements so far in Windsor.
We would have loved to have had more of you there but we do appreciate everyoneโs help since Jan and dedication to Windsorโs good causes to huge ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป to you all!
Thank you also today to Pippa for her very first GoodGym session. ๐๐ป๐
ANDโฆ.. Sheila for her 703rd task ! ๐ฅณ๐๐พ๐๐ป
We all met at The Pirate Park Caroline, Marilyn, Bekah, Jen, Sara, Mandy, Devon, Sheila and Pippa swept the park with litter pickers on our way to the far side where we were to play rounders.
We handed out some GoodGym Windsor leaflets to some runners and walkers in the park.
We set out the nibbles from The Binoy and got some music on. We decided on our rounders teams (Team Bhajis and Team Samosa) and set up the game. Weโll be honest it wasnโt very organised or indeed very fair ๐ฌ but we all had a go and we all tried our best.
Pippa did a bit more litter picking and Devon and Mandy and Marilyn had a run around the field.
The others started on the Indian nibbles and cakes and eventually we all regrouped for a catch up.
Thank you all for coming ๐๐โโ๏ธ you are all litter-ally the best!

Thursday 6:15/ 6:30pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
Tonights community mission was for Age Concern at The Spencer Denney Centre.
We all made our way in various ways. Running, walking or by car. There we had a team chat while waiting for everyone to arrive.
Tonightโs dream team was Marilyn, Jen, Helen, Adam Didem, Bekah and Mandy.
Rachel the task owner gave us instructions about our tidying up task. Lots to move and sort today making the conference desk clear for interviews and to hire out and create more storage in centre.
Helen jumped the gun ๐คฃ at the start before the before photo. She lost some pints there ๐คฃ
Then the emptying the cupboard doubles team with Helen and Adam opened the games.
Jen and Bekah wrestled with the full cupboard and then did a bit of fencing with the bowling pins. Mandy convinced Jen to be a good sport and try a bit of juggling wearing a cone on her head which actually should be included in the games ๐คฃ
The conference room to garage relay race by Didem, Marilyn and Adam and Helen was timed to perfection.
Mandy did her best to coach and monitor progress of the teamโs performance.
The table was cleared and the shelves moved and refilled ... so we had a victory! ๐๐ป
Medals all round ! ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Thank you ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
