Like rain off a duck’s back!

Norwich Report written by Ian Gostling

Tonight 7 GoodGymer's ran or cycled 6km to support John Grooms Court, a residential home for adults with physical and intellectual disabilities.

The task was to paint the outdoor decking and fences, an area that had been neglected but is the only outdoor space available to the residents.

We were given a large pot of 'Duck's back' paint (hence the pun) and shared it out between us to cover as much of the area as possible.

The weather wasn't kind to us - low temperatures & increasing rain! But we stuck to the task until the paint was gone.. then it really was time to say goodbye, dry off and warm up!

Amazing effort team.

P-ain’t Misbehavin’

Norwich Report written by Ian Gostling

Tonight 8 GoodGymer's ran or cycled 6km to a community centre in Mile Cross.

Due to wet weather we had changed venues at the last minute - so thank you to the Phoenix Centre for accommodating us!

They cleared a room that needed painting with a fresh coat of magnolia. I was also able to bring some spare plastic sheeting to avoid drips & spills.

As a team we worked around the room with rollers & brushes, making full use of everyone's different heights whilst working in the same space. After an hour we had covered everything in reach, so we cleaned our brushes and tidied up after ourselves.

The good news is there are more rooms to do, so will be booking in a return visit!

What a re(leaf)

Norwich Report written by Ian Gostling

Today 6 GoodGymer's ran or cycled to Greenfields Community Centre, close to Catton Park.

A few of us either ran or marshaled at Catton Parkrun before heading to the task.

The venue is surrounded by trees so the building's perimeter was completely covered in leaves. Armed with tools borrowed from Catton Grove (another regular GoodGym task) we got to work sweeping leaves & cutting back weeds.

After 1 hour we had filled up a whopping 27 bags of leaves!.

Woody also used his employment skills to lay out a mesh mat, essentially a black carpet, over the area we can cleared.

Shout Out to joining us for her first session! Well done team.

Removing pesky weeks

Norwich Report written by Woody

A quick task removing some weeds for Mrs D.

This task was very simple and I was helped by the member of the council who had set up the task. The weeds were removed easily and some weedkiller was sprayed afterwards just to make sure they did not return.
