On a chilly but surprisingly pleasant Spring evening eight of Goodgym Redbridge's finest met to spring clean and ran 6km in the process.
With Will joining is for the first time it was crack squad meeting help earn our keep at Wanstead Community House Association. This is our regular home and in return for free lodging we do tasks around the house to keep things spic and span. With the recent rain and wind, the gardens were looking a little unloved, so it was down to the team to sweep things up and make the place look beautiful again.
As is the GG way, the team got to work and within 40 minutes the grounds were transformed and almost half a large wheelie bin was full with leaf fall and rubbish. All this left was a pleasant run around Eagle Pond. Even better our efforts were rewarded with a stunning sunset.
Well done to Will for joining on our first task. Hope to see you again soon!

On a pleasant spring evening seven of Goodgym's finest met to help Wanstead Community Gardeners and ran 5km in the process.
Now that spring has finally sprung there is plenty to do in the flower beds and gardens around Wanstead and we were once again back with our favourite community gardener, Marian. Armed with trowls, spades, forkers and pruners the group headed to the area next to Wanstead Station to help cut back some of the winter growth and help Marian make the place look pretty again.
With the team working on laying stepping stones, pruning trees, digging up dead plants and sawing off branches soon the area was transformed. In fact some of the team didnt know their own strength and Trainer James managed to break the handle off a fork - sorry Marian!
With the hard work done there was one last task to do - plant some wild flower seeds at a spot we had cleared during the winter months at Snaresbrook station. And all that was left was a lovely run around Eagle pond and some easy stretching back at base.
Well done to Devon for making her first visit to Goodgym. Hopefully we will see you next week! To all the others, LOVE your work and see you next week :)

On the first Goodgym run of Spring, seven runners met to get fit, do good at Redbridge Lane West Allotments and ran 6km in the process.
With the clocks going forward and lighter evenings, it was great to have three new first time Goodgymers join the regular team at Wanstead House for an evening of getting fit and doing good.
With Helene, Sam and Mark given a warm welcome, the group was quickly off down the road for the 1.5 mile run to Redbridge Lane West Allotments. The task this week was to battle the weeds that threaten to return every time there is a period of rain and keep the allotment in great shape.
With handtools and gloves handed out the team were in great spirits tackling the stubborn weeds and making a huge improvement in the look of the allotment. With light fading fast, 30 minutes of weeding was all that could be done before a run around the local streets of Snaresbrook and Wanstead.
A special shout to Ellie, who had a nasty tumble on uneven pavement in the last 500m and cut her face. Get well soon Ellie!
Fancy getting involved next week when we help out Marian from Wanstead Community Gardeners? You can sign up right here
