Alive and Digging!

Monday 21st June 2021

Written by Bristol runner

A Fab Four of Vicky, Chris, Paul and myself joined Guy from Alive Activities at Charlton Road Allotments in Brentry to help develop their wildlife area as they create a haven of stimulation, social engagement, therapeutic exercise and relaxation for people living with dementia in the community and their carers, and residents from nursing homes.

They are hoping to be able to welcome these people to the area soon and have an event planned in a couple of weeks with a group singing sea shanties to the guests!

After a thorough COVID safety briefing from Guy we quickly got to work in the vegetable beds, with spades and forks, removing the grass cover, turning over the rather heavy soil and clearing out the roots and stones.

It was heavy going but easy conversation between the beds we were each working in.

Nice work team! 👍😊
