Loads of excellent runners did some fitness and then gave a white wall another lick of paint at Brixton Community Base
We were heading to local community space Brixton Community Base but were not able to get in until 7.45. With that in mind, we did an extended warm up and fitness session in the basketball court. We did some nice balances, calf and ankle strengtheners and John H showed us some skiing and figure skating moves, which made us all look silly but our legs will be ultimately grateful.
After a little bit of speed work we headed over to BCB. There was a top room that needed painting so some of the group set about giving it another coat, whilst the rest of us did some more running outside. On finishing the job it was back to our base - Papa's park - for some stretches and heading off home.

32 excellent humans chatted World Mental Health Day, painted Brixton Community Base, did some running and then ate delicious dessert
October 10th is World Mental Health Day and this year GoodGym has partnered with Thrive London who are supporting Londoners towards better mental health - all supported by the Mayor's office. Nice!
During our warm up we chatted with new people and talked about how GoodGym and running helps us all in different ways to be happier and healthier. We then headed a short 0.5miles down the road to a new task, Brixton Community Base. This is an absolutely vital community resource - up to 500 people use the building every week for everything from keep fit to alcoholics anonymous, via kids play groups to am dram. With funding cut and developers circling, they need all the support they can get to keep the space open and affordable for the local community.
They needed a big paint of the main space and we were the ones to do it! We grabbed brushes and rollers and James and Alice hot footed it to the tube to pick up some free papers for the floor. Whilst everyone got busy with the brushes, Katie took groups outside for some running practice. As the room filled up, John took a group the long way home around Brockwell Park whilst the rest of us finished the job.
I can't tell you what a difference this has made! Said Jane
With the room a lovely shade of bright white, we ran off back to base for some stretches and then a Bake Off extravaganza of cinnamon nutella swirly goodness from Alice and a chocolate pudding from Beth that literally was to die for. SUCH TREATS!
A great night one and all.
