Games and Jigsaws

Friday 16th August

Written by Nick Pryke

It's the holiday season so we didn't have many Goodgymmers free. and MIND warehouse had asked for some help sorting donations as their staff are also away this week. Lindsay and Nick arrived to find a van load of mixed jigsaws and games piled in the warehouse. We sorted through the bags and made 2 piles. We also sorted any other items we found into their correct place - pottery, crafting items,, DVD's, kitchen tools and lots of cuddly toys. After 100 minutes we'd cleared the delivery and the. warehouse looked a lot tidier

A late booking at MIND

Friday 5th July

Written by Nick Pryke

With the supermarket cancelling our foodbank collection task at short notice, we needed somewhere else to go to do good. Our friends at the MIND Charity Warehouse had a mountain of book donations to sort through. Nick and Stu we soon onto emptying the donation pile and sorting them into Cookery, Children's, Hardbacks and good quality paperbacks. Low quality or damaged books go for recycling. The pile of donations was cleared and the piles of sorted books would be taken to their shops in the afternoon.

Coolest place to be on Summer Solstice

Friday 21st June

Written by Sarah

4 keen GoodGymmers came to Mind Charity Warehouse to help sort donations ready for the charity shops around the uk.

Nick and Stu were tasked with sticking labels on cd's and dvd's, Stu found the perfect pencil for the task, maybe he could borrow that.

Dawn was tasked with sorting the jewellery and accessories untangling and putting each item together. Interestingly any broken jewellery casualties i.e. missing diamonds or single earings are saved for a gentleman in Nottingham who creates wall art, I'd love to see these!

We also helped load a van with dvd's/ cd's more hands deffinatly made for a lighter load for the driver.

After a quick brew and catching up on the next races in Leicester and who's off to which parkrun it was time to depart, Stu can never resist buying something for his grandkids, all for a good cause, weldone team.

Rag, tag and bobble check

Friday 17th May

Written by Sarah

5 GoodGymmers headed over to the MIND Charity Warehouse, one of the regular charities in Leicester we support. Lovely to see Lindsay again and catch up.

Today we helped sort donation bags with items to supply the MIND charity shops or send to third world counties. We also tagged a big basket of clothes with their size that had already been sorted and checked for the shops. Only the top quality products get to be put on sale in the shops.

Whilst the ladies were busy the gentlemen were busy sorting the books, their favourite little corner. Stu found his next drinks bottle- a giant babies bottle!

Weldone all your help is very much appreciated by the team at Mind, look forward to seeing you next time.

Rag, tag and bobble check

Friday 15th March

Written by Sarah

Ten amazing GoodGymmers made their way to one of our regular tasks at Mind Charity Warehouse. Only 3 members had not visited here before, there was enough of us to show them the ropes. We were also joined again by Gwyn and Tracey from GoodGym Derby, always a pleasure.

The clothes sorting side of the room Lisa who is a pro at tagging (she's done it that many times), plus Ashley and Dawn were busy clothes sorting, checking and tagging getting stuck in.

Meanwhile Jimmy and Stu were in their fave corner sorting cd's and dvd's, could only just see Jimmy's wave for all the donations they were sorting through.

Nick, Dan (must be his running rest day from a 50 mile week with a little race on Sunday), Tracey and Gwynn, were book sorting with one of the books called Chris? Any way I could hear them all laughing so it must have been an interesting read. All followed by a cup of tea, not the quality Dave usually makes us, but it was hot.

Weldone GoodGymmers another task where more hands made for lighter work your efforts in the busy warehouse are always appreciated by the staff.

Cherry Pricking

Thursday 14th March

Written by Derby runner

I framed two embroidered pictures (cherries and an owl) & mounted four little embroideries (teddies) onto greetings cards.

These had been donated to the Mind charity shop in an incomplete state & deserved to be presented at their best in order to sell.

I'll return them to the Mind warehouse at the GoodGym Leicester session tomorrow.
