Tonight 6 lovely Goodgym-ers ran to Cheeky Cherubs to help paint ceiling tiles. We met as usual at our haunt of St Matthews Community Hall at 6.30pm and chatted about our news which included an update following our fab community mission over at Stretford Parkrun on Saturday just gone…check out the mission report here.
Once we had warmed up we set off for Cheeky Cherubs in Urmston which is a community run organisation for kids and young people.
When we arrived Sue explained that we were helping to paint boards that would then be transformed into ceiling art work by the young people that use the centre. While we were there we saw some of the handiwork that we have previously helped happen and we were blown away!
Take a look at that!!!
We set to and managed to paint a whopping x boards ready for them to be creatively decorated by young people in whatever way they choose. Sue was chuffed to bits!
WICKED!!!!
After all that splish splashing of paint we made our way back to St Matthews where we stretched off and chatted about next week’s task which is for the lovely Longford Centre. Click here for more info and to sign up.
Thanks everyone and see you next time!

10 lovely runners made it out to run from St Matthew's Community Hub last night to Cheeky Cherubs CIC in Urmston. We were joined by Christina who earned her GG Tourist badge as she was visiting us from her home location of Liverpool - great to meet you and thanks for coming!
Before we set off we celebrated the brilliant news that we have had another pairing with a Coach runner in Trafford! Elaine, one of our Taskforce members has just been paired up and will start her individual coach runs next week. Find out more about coach runs [here(https://www.goodgym.org/coach-runs)]
Congratulations Elaine!
We also chatted about some exciting partnerships with new Community groups which will lead to some new and different tasks over the coming months. Lots to get stuck into!
We set off for Cheeky Cherubs slightly late (due to the football...there's a theme) and unfortunately due to the stormy weather (which many of our fellow GoodGymers elsewhere had braved the night before), the roof garden at Cheeky Cherubs was in a right old pickle. Rather than paint it we decided it was best to give it a good tidy up and make it safe for further predicted bad weather.
Whilst we were there we managed to tidy all the toys up, make fencing safe, throw away debris and rubbish and unblock a drain so that quite literally a pond of standing water could drain away. Phew!
To top it off we held the inaugural GG Trafford Penalty Shoot out competition with a fiercley fought contest being drawn by Lois and John. And excellent goalie skills demonstrated by Katie and Nicola!
After showing task owner Sue what we had achieved and promising to come back soon to sort the painting out (which has been postponed due to weather), we ran back to St Matthew's feeling pretty darn chipper.
When we got back we stretched off and chatted about next week's task which is WALKABLE! Check out the run listing on our Trafford homepage. We also agreed that we would arrange a run for those that wanted to get some mileage on their legs. Everyone's a winner.
Thanks to everyone for making it out and thank goodness the rain held off for us AGAIN!
See you all next time, Kate x

Our lovely team of GoodGymers ran to Cheeky Cherubs CIC in Urmston to help them spruce up the inside of their building.
We met at St Matthew’s at 6.30 as usual and warmed up whilst we chatted about our weeks, what we’d been up to and also about the task ahead. We also talked about the Festive community mission planned for this coming weekend helping out Friends of Victoria Park at their Christmas Fair and our Christmas decorating task next week.
We also extended a whopping Trafford well done to Amy who completed her 70th good deed for Goodgym last night in brilliant style! Look out for a meet the team article with Amy and some of our other awesome members coming soon.
❤❤❤
GoodGym Trafford is all over the place at the moment, featuring in the Trafford Matters Magazine which reaches lots of people in our local area and in our very own video – check out the links on our various social media channels.
Anyway, back to the task and we set off at a fair clip with Jan kindly back marking us.
On arriving at Cheeky Cherubs we were met by the lovely Sue who showed us to the loos that needed a good lick of paint and the panels for the ceiling that needed a base coat. We set ourselves a target of 20 panels in 30 minutes and smashed it! Well done guys!
I can't believe all that painting got done! Thank you so much!
We set to and quickly managed to complete it (mostly) in a pretty professional manner!
Amy and Fiona taking the task seriously!
Once we had finished our tasks we had a delicious homemade carrot cake made in the Cheeky Cherub restaurant and then made our way back to base at a fair clip and had a good old natter! When re-assembled back at base we cooled down and reminded ourselves about the essential FESTIVE GEAR for next week’s task at Stretford Public Hall and congratulated ourselves on a task well done.
Thanks for your hard work again team and see you next week!

Big whoops and well done to our team of lovely GoodGymers who did a sterling job on our group run last night!
We met as usual at St Matthew's Community Hall, where we chatted about the task, warmed up and updated on some exciting news...
Everyone on our Group Run team was so excited and pleased to hear this and this is just the beginning of helping older people to feel less isolated in Trafford and also to bring runners closer to their community whilst getting fit. It's what we're all about and we're looking forward to many more connections being made. If you would like to get verified to to Coach runs you will need to bring your ID (Driving Licence and Passport to Kate for checking on a Group run night. Please feel free to simply pop in to St Ms either before or after the run if you don't feel like joining in the run and task.
The second announcement was...
It's an absolutely great video and there are loads of GoodGym faces popping up all over it...see if you can spot yourself here
Anyway, back to the task in hand. We were heading to Cheeky Cherubs to help with a project that had been on Sue's (the boss!) mind for some time but just hadn't got round to completing. Cue GoodGym Trafford and their enthusiasm for a challenge!
After warming up we set off at a fair clip ably backmarked by Jo and gave some of the team a bit of a tour of Urmston whilst on our way to the task. Sue met us there and gave us a tour of the quite frankly mind blowing facilities and explained about how the Centre is funded and run.
Once we had wended our way back downstairs where the most almighty kids fun party was going on, we went into the baby sensory room. Our task was to paint an underwater scene on one wall (complete with fish tank) ![193004]using sand, paint and our usual vim and vigour.
Cue 45 minutes later and we'd finished the job and also managed to put together two baby bouncers without instructions too! Well done to Jan and Elaine for completing that Krypton Factor style challenge - now that's what I call a good night's work!
Pleased as punch with our handiwork.
GoodGym is such a wicked concept, thank you so much for your help!
Sue was made up with our efforts and we even got to have a boogie on our way out to the kids disco! We made our way back to base, stretched off, chatted about next week's task and checked our distances on Strava. We all agreed it was an absolutely lovely evening and we're looking forward to returning to Cheeky Cherubs very soon.
Big thanks to you all, you all make GoodGym Trafford a very special thing to be part of.
See you next time, Kate x
