Katie was away this week so Beth and James were left in charge, manning the fort while she was away. Trouble was brewing however, and at 2:30 on the day of the task, it was found out that it was canceled. However, no fear as The Great GG Lambeth Scavenger Hunt was devised as a quick substitute.
So it came to pass that 23 Lambethers set out towards Clapham common, with a set of goals in mind:
- Litter picking - a list of items had to be found: 5 points each and 25 bonus for the whole set
- Exercises - A quick round of repetitions of burpees, pressups, squats and star jumps could be done for a total of 60 points in all
- Bonus picture challenges
Some of these challenges included:
- A photo competition! The theme was heartache
- A camouflage challenge, with a point scored for every second it took beth to find you in the photo
- Representing a shop name through the power of MIME
- Pretending to be stranded on a pedestrian island
- Taking a picture of a GOOD DOGGO
- Taking a prison cell picture
- Doing a sport that isn't running
- Explaining goodgym to a randomer
- And many more..!
With a strict 40 minute deadline and contact details shared with the run leader we were ready to begin!
We split up into 5 teams, and all excelled in various areas:
- Katie's team actually did the 'run to a different common' challenge which was mainly put there as a joke! Kudos, although it was only worth 10 points... - 2 very strong doggos as well
- Freyja's team managed to tick off most the boxes, and their interpretation of a shop called 'Tart' really did take the biscuit
- Sarah E's team won the photo competition with a thoughtful display of heartache - a baby's hat sitting lonely on a railing. Why was it there, how did it get there? We will never know... They also managed to find the BEST doggo
- Tom's team also had a fantastic display of heartache, displaying Tom's own heartache at failing to beat the train at race the train. Their pun was also the best, and it adorns this very run report here.
- Sarah K-Bs team won the camouflage challenge although their score was halved as hiding behind a bin is NOT camouflage. Their 'Penguin' shop mime was also fantastic
All in all, with the scores added up Sarah K-B's team of 6 people won it by 4 points, with Sarah E's team coming a close second. So we have learned three things today:
- It is good to be called Sarah when doing a scavenger hunt
- It is good to have lots of people on your team when doing a scavenger hunt
- All doggos are good doggos
