It stopped raining for the whole of Great Run Local whilst 37 people ran the 5K and 8 ran the 2K supported by 4 GoodGymmers and the rest of the volunteer team.

Lots of cheering and oodles of “thank you, marshal” shouts on the way round, we were all finished in 40 minutes (to the surprise of the tail walker). Which was was lucky as the rain started whilst we were warming up in the café.

Another great Sunday morning deeded!

A few recovery runs were needed today. Not the sort where you take it easy, the sort where you have to run fast after something that’s blowing away!

We’re understanding why the runway was built here, the prevailing wind is “quite strong”, which can be “quite difficult” to even stand in, let alone run, and “quite cold” for marshalling.

Coffee in the leisure centre was well-deserved and necessary to warm up!

It was a windy morning but the rain held off until we'd packed up after the second Great Run Local Hengrove Park - the wind wasn't quite so kind! At least it helped the runners in one direction.

We're looking forward to continuing to help out as the event gets established as there aren't yet many people offering to help out.

Brilliant blue skies and a lot of frost greeted the GLR team early on Sunday. Fortunately, the wind was non-existent and the sun was clearing the tarmac so we were safe enough to go ahead with the 9.30 start with fab photos to be had.

A bit of a tech issue, but 108 runners enjoyed the 5K and 2K courses and there has been mega-positive feedback for the cheery marshals - well done, team!

Now to cope with next week, and the week after...

Sunshine, showers, squalls, high winds and THREE rainbows during the space of an hour for the second pilot of the new Great Run Local at Hengrove Park. We were well wrapped up and loved cheering the 50 runners around the course and they were all so cheerful despite the huge wind trying to stop them getting to the turn around!

We’re super excited for the launch event next week, hoping to have lots of GoodGymmers cheering the way.

Sundays may never be the same again - Great Run Local has arrived at Hengrove for weekly, free, timed 5K and 2K runs at 9.30 on Sunday mornings. It's going to be HUGE! And hopefully always this sunny, and maybe a bit warmer!
