Sunday 13th October

This Sunday morning was dedicated to cutting the luscious green grass! A bit of challenge with the grass being wet but we were not to be defeated. Easier to do without the collecting basket, raked the grass after and added onto the compost. Job done. See you in Nov!

Theodore and Petra met Brian at Hogsmill to attend to the ever growing hedges along the perimeter of the garden. Hedge cutters on borrowed battery time, shears that have seen better days but GG grit and enthusiasm is not to be defeated. Brian told us all about their open day on Saturday which went well and I am happy that we play small but regular part in keeping this piece of Kingston gem going. See you in October.

Sandra & Petra met up at Hogsmill Garden for our usual monthly task. With all the rain, the hedges were in a need of a trim. Despite intense overnight charging of hedge trimmer batteries from Brian, it didn't work. We have resorted to good old fashioned hand tools to level out the hedge with the fence (well done Sandra for braving the ladder) at the top & on the sides. Left the garden nice and neat just in time for a special birthday celebrations taking place. See in you August.

Great to attend our regular task with Brian at Hogsmill. Sabir, Theodhore and Petra used variety of tools the get the hedge under control, making it look nice and neat, in line with the fence. Rachel & Dave took to moving the compost heaps around under Brian's watchful eye. Weather was on our side allowing us to have a little sit down in the sun in the end, munching on fresh pistachios kindly shared with us by Sabir.

It’s been a while since we have been to Hogsmill garden and what a lovely surprise to find the garden bathing in morning sun, in bloom and smiling Brian with a list of tasks in hand. Once we got few rather quick tasks such as turning a pot with a tree around and moving a Xmas tree out of the way, we got stuck in with couple of bigger jobs. Getting ready for relaying new paving, Rachel armed with a pick axe lifted the old slabs up whilst the rest of us stacked them, based on size, behind the greenhouse. Petra and Jade took to levelling the ground to receive a wooden raised flowerbed whilst Helen (welcome to your first task) and Rachel were getting some nice soil ready to fill the flowerbed with. In the end, all 4 us took turns shaking, shovelling, digging and moving the wheelbarrow to get the planter ready for potato planting. Jobs all done, Brian rewarded us with various herbs to take home. Thank you. See you in a month!

Weather was on our side this Sunday morning whilst we met outside Hogsmill community garden (hope Julie & Brian get better soon) to collect rubbish all along a part of Hogsmill river. We have found all sorts… from milk bottles to a stray ping pong ball, soon we had 4 bags pretty full. Thanks Suze for coming over from Richmond and balancing your 🏍️ whilst collecting rubbish.
