Racking up the Good Deeds at Refugee Action

Kingston upon Thames Report written by Claire Dunne

After running walking and cycling our way to Refugee Action we met Heidi with a long list of tasks that some may have considered impossible but not GoodGym.

The craft materials were moved for future sorting to free up space on the racking for childrenโ€™s clothes and shoes which were sorted out by Claire, Levita and Susannah.

It was a case of many hands make light work as we all lifted a suite of desks and turned them 90 degrees to make more space for moving over the ladies wear racking.

Marcos, Sabir, Luke, Dave and Anna got stuck in moving the ladies wear department before a brave team headed to the depths of the building armed with torches to visit the recycling bins. Dave also fixed a safe to a wall with his trusty drill.

After a quick tidy of menswear and moving the toiletries the list of tasks was complete and it was mission accomplished.

A wheel good[gym] sort and clean

Kingston upon Thames Report written by Jade

The team was back at Full Cycle tonight for another productive session. With so many tasks lined up, there was plenty to keep our wheels turning and our hands busy:

  • Several bikes got a thorough clean (a job that always comes back around!).
  • We reorganised huge piles of wheels, and removed stubborn tyres and inner tubes.
  • A large pile of miscellaneous bike parts were meticulously sorted.

We powered through the jobs with time to spare for the highlight of the evening: celebrating a truly monumental achievement! Claire reaching her 200th good deed! What an amazing milestone. Your commitment to GoodGym is absolutely spoke-tacular and truly inspiring!

Well done to everyone for making the session such a success. We will be back again next month.

Hands in the Dirt, Hearts in the Park!

Kingston upon Thames Report written by Levita Figueiredo

Yesterday, our big-hearted GoodGymers came together at Elm Road Playground with one clear goal: to make the space safer and more welcoming for little ones to play. Armed with determination, gardening tools, and plenty of head torches, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work, clearing dry autumn leaves and digging out stubborn weeds rooted deep in the soil. Every minute was powered by our shared love for the community and a strong desire to give back. It was a chilled, productive evening, filled with hearty conversations, teamwork, and good vibes. We combined fitness, friendship, and social action, proving once again that doing good really does feel good.

Rachel White completed an epic 500 good deeds with GoodGym.

Say what? Rachel is a Legend and enters the echelons of GoodGym folklore. 500 good deeds is an off-the-chart amount of good. It's enough good to reach the moon and back. Help Rachel celebrate their legendary status.

Scrub, Paint, Pick โ€“ Team Kingston Gets Stuck In at The Hive!

Kingston upon Thames Report written by Jana

Busy bees at The Hive

What a cracking evening at The Hive in Kingston โ€“ GoodGymmers rolled up their sleeves and got to work on a task that had graffiti, cobwebs, and plenty of rubbish to tackle.

โญ๏ธ A big cheer for our team: Lordi, Tenko, Anna, Emma, Jana, Jonathan, and Ken (and a very warm welcome to our new GoodGymmers, Lordi and Kento โ€“ great to have you with us!).

Jonathan and Ken wasted no time taking on the toilet walls โ€“ not the most glamorous job, but definitely a satisfying one. Buckets, rollers, and brushes in hand, they soon had the graffiti-covered walls and door looking fresh and clean with a smart coat of paint.

Meanwhile, Emma, Tenko, and Lordi took to the streets for some litter-picking action. Cobwebs didnโ€™t stand a chance either โ€“ Emma took particular delight in banishing them from the lights. Before long, the trio had filled two whole bin bags of rubbish. Gold medal standard effort!

Over by the wooden wall, Anna and Jana led the charge against some seriously stubborn graffiti tags. Armed with sprays, brushes, and plenty of elbow grease, they scrubbed and scrubbed until reinforcements arrived. Soon the whole team was joining in, proving that many hands really do make light work.

By the end, the toilet walls were painted, the tags were scrubbed away, the cobwebs were gone, and the area looked so much better.

๐Ÿ‘ Top job, team โ€“ a real hive of activity at The Hive!

Keeping cool at KVA

Dave, Rachel, Levita and Marcos met at KVA to move a fridge up the stairs. We took a dolly to do the hard work but didn't use it in the end as there was a n awkward corner. So Dave and Marcos flexed their muscles and carried it up the stairs. Lots of encouragement from Levita, Rachel and Sanja helped of course!

We stayed to chat with Sanja and then headed back to the Hive to help with the grafitti removal.
