Frozen fingers thanks to Storm Jorge did not hold us back from supporting the many runners at Leazes parkrun this morning!
It was a special one, the first ever Saturday 29th February in parkrun history, and a lot of places were doing something interesting (such as running the course in the opposite direction) to make the event super interesting. Leazes stuck to the usual route; however, we did see a course record which is enough in our books! Well done!
Our tasks were marshaling, tokens and scanning and we even caught up with former goodgymer, Dan, who was run director. It all ran smoothly, no tokens dropped and Bronty (Debbie's dog who has now done 3 Community missions) didn't cover us all in muddy pawprints. I'd call that a success...
A great event with great people!

We had a super morning taking over at the newest North East parkrun: Leazes parkrun
We covered the following volunteer roles:
Two marshals
Pre- event set up
Pre-event briefing
Two barcode scanners
Two timers
Two token sorters
Finish tokens
.. and we had 4 runners and walkers too!.. well done Miranda and Siobhan on your first EVER parkrun today.
"I was taken aback this morning, as literally everyone kept saying thank you!"
It was so great to see super task forcer Charlotte along today as she is really wrestling through a nasty injury that's kept her away for quite a while. Thankfully she had a crutches-friendly role for the morning.
We had a brilliant morning getting involved and I even got to walk with Bob, who I think you can all see on our Instagram was Dog of the Day. Huge well done to those who went straight on to the Community Mission at Nunsmoor Park too!
