Love Our Streets

Making Sheffield Stainless

ABOUT LOVE OUR STREETS

Love our Streets is a community group based in

Nether Edge & Sharrow, Sheffield, England.

Our 'Adopt a Street' scheme is gaining steam and the idea is that we'll expand to other areas. See our map here https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NrSAmyxqxiKOYqh6RrnV0-8pHag2ut1e&usp=sharing

We are dedicated to making our neighborhood a cleaner & safer place to be through litter prevention, raising awareness and education.

We would like Love our Streets to be a central hub for information, resources, local community clean- ups and litter picks.

Watch this space, we are just getting started.

35 GoodGymers have supported Love Our Streets with 2 tasks.

Ooh ah, just a litter pick

Sunday 3rd October 2021

Written by Rachel (she/her)

In a few of our second good deed of the day, we joined Love Our Streets for a litter pick around Nether Edge and Abbeydale Road in the lovely sunshine. They are hoping to make it a monthly event, so hopefully we'll join them again some time

A HUGE GGSHF welcome to new runner;

Daisy

This week was the last group run of the Jan challenge and our fantastic runners came out in force for a new collaboration run with the brilliant Justin and Ben from LOVE OUR STREETS which is a program to try and clean up the streets of Sheffield and keep them that way by encouraging people to adopt a street to stay on top of the litter on that street.

We ran to just off Eccy Rd to meet with Justin and Ben to hear more about this fantastic initative and get a good competition in as well to see which team was the most rubbish!

With maps provided by Justin and Ben we split into 4 teams to cover 4 different areas and see how many bags of rubbish each of the four teams could collect in the time we had.

Team three were the victors with a solid 3 bags!

After we had said our goodbyes we headed home via a ramp for some hills sprints. We also got some good extension loops onto the run whilst on route back to keep the group together and challenge those that fancied it.

Until next time,

Happy Running :)
