9 GoodGymers have supported Newbridge Primary School playground works with 3 tasks.

To quote Ruth, we achieved ‘allot’ in an hour helping tidy Newbridge Primary School’s allotment. It needed a whole allota love indeed; the small beds, compost bins and surrounding area had been left for the bindweed to cover and choke everything in its wake. Surprisingly some hardy rhubarb and strawberry plants had continued to grow, fighting for space amidst it all.
Ruth, Tanya, Cosmo and Kate set to the task at hand with lots of energy, focusing initially on one bed, removing all the weeds and bindweed that got in their way. Once this was achieved and it was time to add some fresh new plants! Chives, Rosemary and Basil were added to the edges and no doubt the children will be greeted with the lovely fragrance as they walk by. Flowers were also added for a bit of colour.
It was an hour well spent, and we’ve had a thank you from the headmaster for our contribution (true story).
Good work all, and hopefully will be invited back to help finish the job.

How did you spend your Saturday morning? Catching up on chores? Doing the shopping? Having a lie-in? Well GoodGym Bath destroyed a shed that was blighting a local school and it felt good.
This was our second visit to Newbridge Primary School - last time we filled a skip with a shed and a load of concrete blocks that were part of the old playground. This time we did the same - without the blocks.
The grounds are huge - no wonder the caretaker needed some GoodGym assistance in keeping it safe and tidy.
It also meant we got our steps in - we walked one and a half miles pushing wheelbarrows loaded with wood and stuff between the shed and the skip.
Did I mention it felt good? Turns out smashing up a shed is extremely therapeutic. That, coupled with a trip to a nearby café, made for shedloads of fun.

Six good gymers, including myself helped improve a derelict and unkept place. Strength, was shown through heavy lifting of heavy stone. A shed was dismantled and a brilliantly full skip was the after effect of our hard work. Many, pleasantries were exchanged and it was a rewarding enhancement of the area worked in. Good work everyone.
