We've never EVER undertaken good deeds in Newport before!
The time is nigh for Newport to lose their GoodGym virginity. With runners coming from Cardiff and Bristol in various modes of transport, and some even running, 11 runners made their journey to Newport for a takeover of Riverfront parkrun. Melanie was lead photographer, Lowri was funnel manager (a role she has now made reference to on her CV with the description, 'Coordinator for an event that boasted over 200 participants' and others taking on other roles from marshaling to barcode scanning.
The sun always shines in Newport, and it did actually stop raining for the first half of the parkrun. It's great to see so many people being active, and an opportunity to raise the profile of giving fitness a purpose. A great Cardiff/Bristol hook-up to do good. And jump!

Finding endless bottles and cans, it was only fitting to make a pun that referenced the rubbish we found.
After volunteering at Parkrun it was time to continue the good deeds! Arming ourselves with gloves and rubbish bags we searched the area high and low for any litter we could find. On first glance the area looked pretty clean, however upon further inspection we found bushes nearby hid stockpiles of litter. We jumped in the bushes and managed to fill up 4 bags! It was certainly good going. This was also Lowri's 50th good deed - Well done Lowri! We will be celerating at Tuesday's group run with the big badge presentation and there was a mention of cake.... :)
Feeling proud of what we managed to achieve, it was time to head to the local cafe for a spot of breakfast... NOM NOM NOM!
