This morning we had a final shot at some deep diggin’ for St. Marks Community Centre before they send in the serious machinery. Myself, Emily K, Meyrick and newcomer Jamie kitted ourselves up with shovels, forks and other spiky objects suitable for loosening and removing vast amounts of earth. Emily and Jamie tended to the lower part of the wall to finish off levelling and clearing some ivy while Meyrick and I took turns between smashing soil with a mortar pick hammer and shovelling said soil into a wheelbarrow before offloading it onto a huge pile of dislodged dirt. Once our two hour time slot was up, we said goodbye to our tools which had brought us so much joy but would now be locked away safely, ready for another day. We then got a quick group snap to prove we’d not had a secret Saturday morning lye in.
All in all, top stuff! Aaron C

Six runners ran 2km to St Mark's Community Centre in Widcombe to brave the weather and help Ruth turn the compost and trim the base of the trees.
We welcomed Dan down from Newcastle where he's been running with GG Newcastle and runleader Anji all summer. Only fair as we lost our previous Dan back up north a few months ago.
Rob, Allie, and Tim swapped the compost around to help it along, while Ruth, Alison, Chris, and Dan trimmed the base of the trees and cut everything down for the compost.
