This morning’s mission was delivering leaflets for the Cambrian Community Centre, which works to improve health and community strength by providing affordable exercise and leisure activities.
Monika, Adam and JP divided the pile of leaflets up and headed off to distribute them in the local areas. We focused on the estates off the Queen’s Road, with lots of small houses together which made leafleting efficient.
We made it through our stacks and headed back to the Cambrian Centre where the staff were full of thanks for our efforts.

Four goodgymmers arrived on a drizzly Saturday morning at Cambrian Community Centre. We were greeted by David, Vicki and Victoria who were delighted to see us as they needed help with getting the centre back up and running so they can safely reopen its doors to the community. The centre has been a hub in Richmond of supporting health and the community for over 25 years! and the gym in particular has been sorely missed over recent months.
The gym was the focus for today. Due to the new procedures being in place to ensure the ongoing safe operation of the gym we were tasked with helping to reshuffle the machines. This meant one of the treadmills needed to be removed completely and stored in the shed outside.
First things first...Mike, Sam and Nat cleared the area outside of all leaves, debris and large mushrooms, which had built up over the months. And then proceeded to remove a table tennis table and kids treasure trove of toys, mats and trampoline from the outdoor shed to make room for the treadmill and gym equipment.
Chris went to help David to add sound protection in the football area for when all the enthusiastic future footballers return to the centre.
The next big job was removing the treadmill...after a quick discussion of how we were going to get said treadmill out of the gym, down the step and in to the shed - we channelled our inner Ross Geller and PIVOT!ed the heavy and cumbersome treadmill on to its wheels, down a ramp and along the paving. Stopping briefly to decide how we were going to PIVOT! the treadmill through the small door of the shed taking note of a very small turning space. With a bit of brute force and determination from team GoodGym the treadmill was in the shed and a collective sigh of relief was shared - air high fives all round!
Now for a game of tetris...the entire treasure trove of kids toys now had to go back in to the shed, table tennis table and all! Mike and Chris played the game with expert precision meaning everything was safely stored away - excellent work!
After some final leaf clearing, cupboard emptying and desk moving we said our goodbyes and wished the Cambrian team well for their reopening.
