Course we can

Friday 10th June 2022

Written by Sarah Moore (She/her )

On Friday evening six Goodgymmers met to help lay out the course for Saturday's Tottenham Ten race. Some of us met earlier to eat pizza at GGH old favourite LOVENpresents, currently residing at Ora Brewery.

By 8am though the whole team had assembled at the Engine Room, a church and community centre. Task owner AJ gave us each an armload of signs and strode off into the marshes. the team struggled to keep up! Maybe it was the signs or maybe we were all taking an opportunity to catch up on a lovely summer evening.

By 9:30 the task was complete, and there was just time for a glass of wine (and a lovely birthday present from Latoya to Sarah) at the bar next to the Engine Room before we all headed home.

Nobody puts Goodgym Haringey in the corner

Saturday 11th June 2022

Written by Sarah Moore (She/her )

Sarah, Neil and Sam all turned up to the Tottenham Marshes to marshall the Tottenham 10k race. Our spot was dubbed "Goodgym corner" by task owner AJ. We had to encourage people to turn left after their first and second laps and right after their third. This led to all sorts of fun when it turned out lots of people can't count to three, or shouting "the other left!" after a couple of people turned right after the first lap (we quickly changed tack to shouting and pointing "this way!" which worked perfectly until some people were on their third lap while others were still on their first. Some may still be out there circling the Marshes for all we know (almost certainly the shirtless man running in huaraches a la the Tarahumara).

The signs were clear(ed)

Saturday 11th June 2022

Written by Sarah Moore (She/her )

Sarah, Neil and Sam all stayed behind after the Tottenham 10 to clear the course.

On our way we bumped into the vicar, who said he thought the signs were still needed for a 5k walk that was happening. So we turned back to double check with task owner AJ, who said they definitely needed clearing.

Many, many signs were cleared and our three heroes went staggering back to the Engine Room, where a briefing for the 5k walk was underway. On our way in at least two people said the signs were still needed for the 5k. We decided to trust the task owner's instructions and beat a hasty retreat!
