The Stroke Association decorated Exhibition park with purple as they launched 2020's Resolution Runs in Newcastle today.
Over 250 runners of all ages braved the crazy weather we've been having this February, and ran a mixture of 1, 5, 10 and 15km!
Wow!
All of this was to help survivors of stroke rebuild their lives. Wonderfully, there were several stroke survivors volunteering with us, and it was brilliant to hear their stories, how it has effected them and their determination to get involved in giving back to a charity that had helped them.
When we arrived, the weather was not in our favour, but thankfully hot drinks, ponchos (purple, obviously), hand warmers and sandwiches (check out Ross' ingenious carrying system in the photos) were distributed to brighten our spirits. Soon the sun appeared and the DJ got us ramped up to get out onto the course for two hours of marshaling.
I'm just going to dance to keep warm!
As we cheered on all the brave runners, the elements certainly did their best to bring us down (and tear up our ponchos), but our smiles were not to be dampened by a bit of drizzle! Every runner had clear determination to complete their Resolution challenge for the charity, and they all did themselves proud.
We hope that we'll be able to help out the Stroke Association again. A big thank you to all the coordinators and runners for being such a great team!
