Today 2 Goodgymers raced around the houses near the SYDNI centre delivering leaflets promoting their upcoming 20th birthday celebrations on 1st November.
Thankfully the rain from earlier in the day had cleared so we were treated to a relatively warm and sunny evening as we practised our speed walking going between houses delivering the leaflets.
5000 steps later and all the leaflets were safely delivered - job done!
We wish the SYDNI Centre a wonderful 20th birthday celebration and look forward to returning to support this important community facility in the future.

We had a last minute change of task this week to help out the SYDNI Centre in the Sydenham area of Leamington Spa.
Tonight's task was delivering some leaflets to local houses near the Centre, putting a shout out to ask for some regular volunteers to support the great work that the Centre does. There are lots of exciting volunteering opportunities available including helping with the food co-op, helping with running of the cafe, opportunities to help with teaching English as a second language and helping with garden maintenance.
Thankfully the rain showers from earlier in the day had passed by the time of our group run, so we managed to stay dry and had the leaflets delivered in no time; there was even a little daylight left by the time the last leaflet was delivered!
We are hoping to be back at the Centre to support with some of their gardening maintenance in the not too distant future!

This second lockdown has left a lot of people out of action, so Saturday's task had us lacing up our trainers for some good old fashioned leafleting for the local community centre!
Depsite a damp start to the day, the weather cleared up just enough for the team to deliver more than 300 newsletters for the SYDNI centre in Sydenham. We have to say a big thank you to the SYDNI Centre for providing such detailed maps and perfect routes. Well done to David and Philip for coming along and getting some miles in for the Warwick and Leamington Spa team and a special shoutout to James for being the first back to base and showing us all how its done! Finally, a massive thank you to Becky who got through 140 leaflets on her solo mission despite the rough weather this weekend.
Massive thanks to everyone who came along. Kate and the rest of the team were so appreciative and would love to have us back soon.

With some clever staggering of times, a total of 4 runners ran to leaflet vital information to the local neighbourhood.
The Syndi centre were offering advice and information to the community on how to cope with the COVID19 crisis as well as where to turn to for help with food, prescription collections and online courses.
Splitting up the area of Syndenham, each runner had an area to cover, donning PPE which resulted in very sweaty hands by the end of the run, in fact trainer Becky's hands looked like prunes by the end.
Lovely to see some local wildlife enjoying the peace.
It was great to see some GoodGym Faces on our first community mission.

A small 'Cherry' picked group ran to Leaflet for the Syndi Centre this week, Cherry picked being the word, as Cherry our lovely runner who travels the furthest to run with us from Worcester did a sterling run this week. The loop back group didn't have much looping back to do.
Following a warm up, with 'temper tantrums' galore - thanks to Mel for her version of fast feet, we ran a new route to the Syndenham Estate.
Splitting into two groups we covered the area with our super fast feet, taking on an effort session at the same time, with sprints and then recovery posting... The target area was covered in super quick time, and a few photos were taken, although the light wasn't the best. We did however find the best window decoration for Christmas.
On our return leg, we overtook a group of Christmas Walkers all dressed up in antlers and boppers and even managed to collect an extra runner at the lights, wearing his posh shoes and Christmas party clothes he joined us for half a mile. Hopefully we have a new recruit for next week, clearly we really are the most friendly running group out there.....
Back at base we did a cool down and then (due to Becky having a new phone) squatted for 10 secs to take our selfie....
Massive thanks to those that came along last night, we may have been the smallest group yet but we certainly smashed the task. Lovely to see Helen back for her second run and massive well done to Gavin for doing an extra loop so that he completed his 9k challenge.
Can't wait to see you all next week - don't forget to bring your best Christmas outfits......
