31 GoodGymers have supported The Weir Link Centre with 8 tasks.

After the passing showers of the afternoon we had a lovely evening to head over to the Weir Link and help weed and clear their rose patch.
Will was back with us for his second Group Run and was met by Jo, Michael and AA Yianny at Papa's.
It's one of our longer runs to the near side of Clapham/Balham but surprisingly quiet and leafy for large parts so we arrived in good spirits to get cracking.
On arrival we found we had the best tool set up we've had in a while (checkout the tool chariot!) and were able to clear a decent patch round the borders and the rose bushes as well.
By 8pm we were done and set back off with Will peeling away to head down Brixton Hill then Jo angling off down in Brixton as Michael and AA made it safely back to base.
Thanks so much to all and I'll see you at the next one :0)

Last night saw us back at the Weir Link to help spruce the place up in advance of their fun day on Saturday.
We were joined by Fi for her second GG session and first Group Run which was lovely - it was great to have you woth us!
It's just over 3km from Papa's to Clapham so we set off with just Louise, AA Yianny and Fi and made quick work of the steady climb out of Brixton basin. Lots of GGers were meeting us at the task this evening including our resident walker Paul and locals Kaz and Sarah.
Lizzy had left us some hand tools and a green waste bag and to begin with it looked like there wasn't that much to do however as we got started it became apparent that just clearing the main area was the goal and the border would have to continue another time.
Talk while working turned to biting ants (turns out they do if you annoy them), amazonian wildlife and general dangerous creatures encountered while travelling. In addition there was some discussion over whether bringing Aperol to summer sessions might increase attendance..... One to consider!
By 8pm we had cleared the main section of all unwanted weed life and it was time to head back in our separate directions. It was also great to have been joined by Tilly at the task who would then add to our running group back to Brixton.
As ever thanks to all and see you at the next one.

What a beautiful Spring evening to be heading out on our Lambetrh Group Run! It was gloriously bright and sunny but with a chill in the air - perfect running conditions - and many GGers were seeing each other in natural light for the first time!!
A warm welcome to James who was joining a Group Run for the first time, it was lovely to have you with us and another great addition to the Lambeth community! It was also lovely to have Task Force star Sarah back after a period away having been very unwell - we are glad to have you back. Lastly Aimee thanks for venturing out to meet us after your HIIT session, your glasses didn't impair your weed picking in the slightest!
Tonight's category controversy was around pizza toppings where the consensus was that burgers should not be found anywhere near them.
Tonight we were heading back to the Weir Link to help out Lizzie who had left us some hand tools and bags to clear away the weeds around the front of the centre. Despite the task name it was in fact the Dandelions we came to clear not the Daffodils, don't panic folks, no daffs were harmed during the making of this task!
It's a 2 mile each way run so a challenging but manageable distance for this group and luckily it's slightly uphill on the way out meaning a coast downhill heading back.
The team made a decent dent in the work with (Good) Jim looking on - see pics - split between those with hand tools digging up roots and the rest pulling up the weeds by hand. With the central section cleared and a good stretch of border also done it was tome to head home.
There was time for one last pizza based bit of trivia from Kaz who shared a New Zealand delicacy (?!) of pizza base with canned spaghetti on top..... The less said the better I think ;0)
On arrival back at Papa's a handsome ginger moggy decided to join in the session and came stealthily into the hall - thanks Michael for ushering him back out so we could lock up and head home!
Thanks everyone and see you at the next one !!

What to say about the Group Run this evening??!! It was a jam packed affair so without further ado lets's get into it.
Prologue: Both gates were locked at Papa's with new padlocks to boot and Louise was concerned that coming straight from work she was going to have to change in the street.... never fear using his past life as a safe cracker the AA had one of the padlocks off in no time and we were in.
Chapter 1: As we set off on one of our longer runs a little birdie told Yianny that it was Charlotte's 200th GG good deed (what a fantastic achievement!) so with that joyous news in mind we were off on the flattest route possible to visit our friends at the Weir Link centre. Tonight's category caught people by surprise - if you could be anyone else apart from yourself for a day who would it be - but some great answers including the rich lady from the Aristocats movie, one person's own sister and several musical type people. Our main concern was the slippery surface and all the fallen leaves (GG can help with that) but we made good time and were there nicely warmed up in 23 mins flat.
Chapter 2: Once we arrived we were on the lookout for Ivan who had ALL the tools we would need and some green waste bags. After scaring the daylights out of a small group inside the centre by popping up outside the window, they were kind enough to go and call Ivan who came out with an M&S bag with two trowels in it... That was fine the work was going to be done by hand pulling the weeds and so we didvided ip bags and set to work.
Chapter 3: Bags were filling up rapidly with soggy leaves and weeds so it was decided to leave some leaf mulch and just pull the weeds then Kaz who, true to his word joined us on the fly, spotted something in the undergrowth. What could it be you ask? A slug or snail enjoying the wet weather, perhaps a small beetle or creepy crawly, or maybe a bit of South London detritus (you know what I mean)? In fact emerging from the ground covered in mud was a very small but perfectly formed man wearing a red top and a hard hat! It was of course fate and given his attire it was agreed that this would be our Lambeth GG mascot from now on but just one thing was missing, a name.
His name obviously is Jim, Good Jim, if you hadn't guessed!
In any good story about now is where there is a misunderstanding or problem which the protagonists must overcome and we thought we were about to have our own on who would take Jim and keep him safe till next week. But that's not how we roll at GG Lambeth and despite celebrating her 200th task Charlotte is also heading off on a trip for a bit so the group agreed that the AA will hold onto him and bring him every week - when you see him say hi!
Conclusion: Job done and with time to spare and we had run out of bag space to gather any more weeds. Time to head back but not before some great team pics (thanks and welcome back Liz).
Epilogue: Back at Papa's after almost 7km of running and loads of weeding we remembered it was cake time, this week we had DOUBLE BAKE with both Charlotte and Clare treating us to delicious cupcakes and vegan (I think?) Brownies!!
What a great night, milestones, kilometres, new arrivals and old friends.
The End.

A lovely sunny Saturday morning and 4 of us met at Weir Link Centre for some weeding. Welcome to Alice on her first Goodgym outing 🙌and Sophie on her second!
There had been a weeding mission here a few months ago but surprise surprise they had grown back. 😄 With limited tools we got rid of a lot of dandelions, spiky dandelions, leaves and old daffodils and gave the roses more space to shine! In under an hour the flower bed was transformed and we all went off to enjoy the afternoon sun 🌞

Saturday morning and 5 of us gathered for a post parkrun community mission! We were joined by Harvey all the way from Ealing as well as Diane, Kaz And Rebecca.
Unfortunately Rita wasn’t there to meet us but we were able to get our hands on some tools and bin bags and dug up a lot of dandelions, thistles and many other weeds in just under an hour. The sun came out and we all headed off for our afternoon activities.
