This evening we had a great time at Woodlands Park Primary celebrating terrific Tessa's 50th good deed, fabulous Rachel's 100th and super Sara's birthday. Thanks to Taskforce member Nicola for organising this session, and to the teachers who made us feel welcome, gave us the tools for the job and kept opening the gate for us!
During the evening, we made the most of the school environment to explore the full curriculum:
Maths
4 runners + 5 walkers + 2 cyclists + 4 GoodGymers meeting at the task = 15 awesome people
Counting backwards from 23 for Sara's birthday squats. Also some complicated adding and subtracting and VAT calculations to reach the number 23.
Dividing cakes into fractions and then adding fractions together when we went for seconds.
Geography
Some map reading on the 2km journeys to and from the school (as well as some guesswork).
The West and North sides of the fence surrounding the swimming pool were painted, and since we did the South and East sides on our last visit, we've now done the lot. Gold stars all round!
Art
Large paint brushes wielded with great enthusiasm. Some face and body painting too.
The art of balancing a cone on your head in the wind and not letting it smack you in the face.
Arty photography attempts
Music
Singing happy birthday to Sara at every opportunity.
Cheer leading.
P.E.
All the running, walking, cycling and squats, plus a friendly sports day style relay including lots of high fives and cheering
Swimming
Maybe next time!?
Design and Technology
Medals lovingly made by Jess to celebrate Tessa and Rachel's mega milestones. Congratulations you two and well done Jess!
Cookery
Cakes lovingly made by Georgeta and Sheila to celebrate Tessa and Rache's mega milestones. More congratulations and huge thanks to the bakers!
English
A poem to celebrate Rachel's amazing 100 good deeds (as is now customary!):
Rachel started GoodGym in March ‘22
And quickly became one of the crew
She helped the Baby Bank move site
Then it feels like somehow overnight
By painting, sorting, and digging up weeds
She’s reached an epic 100 good deeds!
She’s game for a trough off, or going potty
She isn’t fazed when the ivy gets knotty.
She’s a go-getter, a grafter, a giver
She can even count people into a river!
And there’s more to celebrate of course...
She’s mission verified and she’s Taskforce!
She gardened for the elderly Ms L
And visited Ms W on her birthday as well
Report writer, photographer and happy walk-leader
She’s always there to help when we need her
She’s a great sport when it comes to fitness
And have you heard about her catering business?
GoodGymer by day, superstar chef by night
Her food is fabulous, it says so on her website!
Better than Roux and Heston by far
We think she deserves a Michelin star.
Rachel we love you, your smiles and your laughter
Here’s to your GoodGyming success – happily ever after!
Science
An experiement to determine the impact of a cake-filled belly on our ability to run.
And did we mention it was Sara's birthday!?

We heard Woodlands Park Primary had a large fence in need of some GoodGym love, so we Raleigh-ed the troops and dashed over to brush up on our painting skills.
This week was special because we were celebrating the new partnership between GoodGym and the bicycle company Raleigh. Well done to Amy R, Diya and Kanika, who wheely got into the bicycle frame of mind and cycled to and from the school. And thanks to Raleigh for the treats! Some people missed out when we shared them out at the end, so I'll bring them along next week for you.
It was a beautiful sunny evening to be out and great to have so many sign ups. We split into smaller groups of cyclists, runners, wunners, ralkers and walkers and formed a sort of chain on the way to the school. Thanks to Kelley, Jess, Nicola, Sophie and Jen, who helped with navigating and leading the various groups on the way there and back. We didn't want anyone forking off and getting lost!
At the school we were met by task owner Mr Miles, who led us down the purple carpet to the fence around the swimming pool, and we wasted no time in having a dip. Not a dip in the pool, a dip of brushes into fence paint! GoodGym haven't stretched to run, walk, cycle and swim...yet. Well done to Kate and Clara, who tackled some weeding too.
Painting progress was speedy, and in 45 minutes we had completed over half the fence - around 15 panels. By now it was getting very chilly, so there was only one thing for it...it was time for the Tour de Woodlands Park Primary! The peloton set off (on foot but at velo-city) around the school track and then tackled the obstacle course. Well done all!
Before we headed off Diya spoke up and made sure we had a group photo, then we ran, walked and cycled into the sunset and towards the aforementioned Raleigh treats. When the runners had almost reached Wessex Way, Georgeta was very unlucky to have a fall, having got her feet caught in a piece of wire that had been left on the pavement. Thanks to Gillian and Sophie for helping to pick her up and get her home safely. Georgeta we all wish you a speedy recovery.
Well done again to everyone who came out and GoodGymed. Raleigh great progress on the task and Raleigh great to see you all!
