Fantastic 4 helped Woodthorpe York Community Group with tidying up after summer festival - main event organised by the group on an annual basis. 4 gazeebos were folded and taken to local volunteers homes, a lot of litter was picked up and 2 bulk bags full of litter dragged to the skip.
Well do e Team!

It’s the bulbs planting season and that was precisely what the Woodthorpe York volunteers asked us to help them with.
Tonight we welcomed Amanda, our new member, who saw us working in the West Bank Park few weeks ago and couldn’t resist joining the fun. Give her a big Cheer!
Amy, from Woodthorpe York, talked us through the selection of biscuits and quality street sweeties on offer.... back to the task we were presented with couple thousand of crocuses and daffodil bulbs and had 1 hour to plant them all – an ideal GoodGym task! Fortunately the method was to lift a small section of turf with the use of a spade and throw a handful of bulbs, making sure shoots face upwards and cover it back with turf. It sounded easy and we went to make a start.
Debs, Richard, Amy, Ed, Michael and Leanne started planting around tree bases and by the play area fence, meanwhile Laura and David went to where the bigger trees were to plant the bulbs in a big 'G' pattern – we will have to come back in spring to see the results. The third group - Izzy, Barbara, Amanda, Lucy and Michal went to plant around the green perimeter closer to the shops.
Have you lost something, are you looking for a key? - passerby
One lady came to us with her child to show her how bulbs planting is done by pros. Another passer-by thought that we were searching for a lost key and offered to help, but we quickly explained to him what this walking in the dark with head torches and looking down was all about.
At 19:30 we still had couple hundred bulbs in the box, but were told not to worry as the Woodthorpe York are planning to have a stall on the green this Saturday, giving the remaining bulbs away to local people to plant in their gardens. Check out their event page on Facebook. https://fb.me/e/3Fl9FBlGm
Pleased with results of our work we treated ourselves with sweets and, as it started to rain again, few of us went for a post mission social run around Woodthorpe.
Well done Team and see you at the next task.

3 members of GG York attended the request from the organisers of a local community day to help out as general helpers. When we arrived the fair was still in full swing no doubt helped by the great weather whilst the band and stalls were doing great business - and this despite no telly and all the sporting events taking place on Sunday! We put ourselves to work by wandering amongst the crowds acting as litter patrol and general helpers. We added dismantling gazebos to our skills portfolio ( having been given advice from a stall holder that saw our first attempt). A very friendly community fair - to be recommended for next year 😀
