York Report written by Ed Woollard (He/Him)
It was all hands on deck as we teamed up with the lovely guys from the Arts Barge for the first time, but certainly not the last.
We arrived to a very comprehensive task list and soon began getting stuck in. The majority of the team began clearing debris from the landing and shifting the gangplank (not entirely sure if these are the correct nautical terms but they sound legit). Meanwhile the rest of the crew got on board with clearing the barge's deck and giving it a good sweep.
The most interesting task was snapped up by first mates Hannah and Leanne who were clearing rubbish (mostly loaves of bread) out of the water around the barge, using a basket attached to a rope and basically playing a life-size game of the claw-grabby things you get in seaside arcades. The basket wasn't going to cut the mustard with the floating sleeper and door which required a more novel approach involving floating it further down to some steps where we could just about reach into the water and rescue them
We managed to get a great deal of work done, much to the delight of the task owners, but there's still plenty more that needs to be done before the barge is ready to figuratively set sail again. So keep an eye on the listings for the arts barge mk.2

York Report written by Neil Bushell
A group of 14 Goodgymers took to the streets of York for a morning of mobility mayhem to test drive scooters for shopmobility York, who rent them out from Coppergate Car Park.
After mastering the controls and speeds with a short practice in the car park their first obstacle to overcome came in the form of reverse parking into the lift, which once completed would give them access to the city streets beckoning below.
As all great Goodgym tasks do, this one came with responsibility and the need for strong teamwork along with some minor danger. The team excelled in navigating the city, it's visitors and testing various shops access and ability to welcome customers on scooters. With one-way systems and stacked displays no harm came and the test was a great success with all that scooted out came back with battery levels still holding charge.
After a scooter wash and some tea and biscuits for refreshments after, the mission was a success and the team left counting down the days to the next opportunity to paint the town red.

Not content with one sunny tree-related task this jolly Saturday, some of us headed on to our Tiny Forest for a second. We were joined by Lace and welcomed by Mickey who gave us an introduction and instructions. The patch was looking great but more maintenance was needed before the trees could become self-sustaining. We therefore set to work weeding and digging up grass that had sprung up in patches between the trees. James even got to plant a tree, which was pretty fitting for his 100th good deed. Good work James.
And to top it all off, Claire had brought an incredible picnic with sandwiches, flapjack and muffins and even a flask of coffee with cups to go round. What a treat, thank you!
