Cecilia D๐ (She/her) completed 25 good deeds with GoodGym.
Cecilia has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

Hands up if you volunteered at junior parkrun today ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐.
We did, at Eltham junior parkrun!
GoodGymers from Greenwich and Bexley helping make it happen for the young runners. And it was fab.
Same place, same time next week. See you there? ๐

Wednesday saw us back at Hurst Community Centre, this time to collect litter from around the grounds.
First the car park. Armed with pickers, gloves, and bags we blitzed the rogue crisp packets, stray coffee cups, and cheeky cigarette butts lurking between cars.
Then the rubbish that had accumulated along the boundary walls around the lawn.
Since recce-ing this task the grass had become a thigh-high jungle, and we joked about needing a scythe to cut a pathway though. Still, we swish-swish-swished our way to the wall and started clearing up.
It wasn't long before we realised that sharp grass seeds had launched a stealthy assault on our feet - socks and shoes suddenly felt like they were lined with needles.
To a genuine cry of 'I'm a GoodGymer, get me put of here', we declared a tactical retreat.
Safely out of the grass we took a few minutes to sit down and pluck the spiky seeds from our footwear (and check for ticks).
After a final sweep of the car park to collect more sweet wrappers and rubbish from vacated bays, we headed home.
Prickly grass seeds aside, this was a task full of laughs, storytelling and impromptu trivia snacks. All part of the GoodGym fun.
Note to self: definitely no more wading through long grass on future tasks!
Tried to think of a litterโpicking pun to end this report, but they were all rubbish!
See you next time.

Cecilia D๐ (She/her) completed their first run in a new area.
Curious? Cecilia has just run their first session in another area. For that explorative spirit Cecilia is awarded the scout badge. A Scout is trustworthy

An unusual week for us with a double task and a double mode of transport! We had 2 tasks in need of help tackling the weeks: Luxmore Garden and Florence Green.
Welcome to Philippa it was her first ever good deed and we hope to see you again soon!
Whilst Paul led the warm up I cycled off up the hill to wait at Luxmore for everyone to arrive (I can confirm that hill is just as bad when cycling). Once everyone arrived and the small group of Marta and Alison had headed to Florence Green to join Vic and Julian. It was time to get stuck into some weeding at both tasks.
The key thing at Luxmore is to always leave the ornamental grass but take out the non-ornamental grass which we always find tricky! There was plenty of alkinet and other weeds to be pulling up as well.
Over at Florence Green, the weeds between the hedge saplings that we helped plant needed to be removed to give the best chance of the hedges growing big and strong.
It was time to regroup as a whole group for the group photo and then back down the hill to Glass Mill.
Next weeks task is to Seniors!

This evening we gathered at Charlton House (Khai unexpectedly starring in a wedding photo shoot) and shared which gameshows, past and present we'd like to go on. We also did some balance and core exercises - remember to stand on one leg while you brush your teeth, guys - suck your tummy in and squeeze your bum = strengthen your core for the Big Half!
Today we were celebrating Marta reaching the 900 good deeds milestone! ๐๐ She's hoping to get to 1,000 by next march and then she gets a new t-shirt with a sun on it because she will have then been deemed to have reached godly status (I for one think she's already there but the Tshirt will prove it!)
A lovely evening for a lovely task and after a short run and meeting Robert, Annie, Bobbie and Ivar (email not ipad) at the task, Annie got ten of us got to work watering, weeding, planting some fox gloves and sewing some seeds. We got loads done tonight and it makes such difference!
Bobby gave Annie a hand back with the wheelbarrow on the rest of us trundled off back to Charlton House and during a quick stretch we discussed upcoming tasks: we've got the Community Hospice (celebrating Johnny's 500th good deed) and Hervey Road again on Saturday; next week we're back at Brooklands on Wednesday and the following week we've got helping at Horn Fair PARKSfest .
Until next time :)
