2 runners ran to help out at the Barnsley Community Carer's Garden.
Thankfully, the rain held off and left us with yet another fair evening and nice sunset. We met Gordon at the Carer's Garden and had a good chat about the different shrubs and wildlife that had been spotted in the garden recently. Then we set to work by relocating one remaining apple tree into the main area of the garden.
The Community Garden in Barnsley is a fantastic space, tucked away behind the Metrodome that is in need of some love and green fingers to make it flourish, to provide a community garden for all the community as well as providing earned respite for the carers of Barnsley.
After admiring our handywork with the tree, we were gifted a few apples each for our efforts. An enjoyable run back to base and it was farewell for another week.
Next week we'll be back to the lovely Locke Park. Sign up here!

4 members of GoodGym Barnsley ran to the lovely Locke Park to help with sorting out the sandpit.
Sweeping all the sand back and picking out the litter from the pit is a daily task, just one of the many features of the park that the Friends of Locke Park look after. We were glad to do our bit in sweeping up the sand, and were even joined by a few members of the public. The more the merrier!
It was another mild and clear evening, and we enjoyed the sunset and a good chat as we took a longer route back, with one of our runners Jason turning it in a good 5km for the group.
Of course, we managed to get a quick group photo or two with the GoodGym flag to celebrate 10 wonderful years of GoodGym and all the work and miles that have been done in the last decade.

Next week we'll be back to the Barnsley Carer's Garden, sign up here. Please bring a headtorch for the run back.
We are also meeting up for Nostell parkrun together this weekend as part of #SuperSaturday on the 21st. Sign up here. Don't forget your GoodGym tshirt (and your barcode!).

Barnsley Report written by Rachael (GoodGym Barnsley)
Members of GoodGym Barnsley met on this pleasant September evening to assist the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust in a litter pick on The Fleets in Barnsley.
The Fleets green area came into ownership of the Trust in recent times, which our task organiser Lucy told us was the 'missing piece of the puzzle' for all the green areas they look after in Barnsley. Once we got further along the path to the big main pond it was very peaceful, I think we were all quite surprised that this area was just a short distance from the hustle and bustle of the main road and the town centre. Lucy told us all about the different species of wildlife that have been spotted here, including salmon in the waters and even a kingfisher seen just last weekend.
We had a bit of a laugh whilst filling our bags full of litter, chatting about favourite comedy movies, Halloween fancy dress costumes, and the old bars we all used to go to when we were younger.
After a good ol' litter pick with several bags full, we bade farewell to Lucy and made the 1 mile uphill run back - great effort from everybody. Running with others really does do wonders when your legs are telling you to give up!
Now we look forward to next week's task at Locke Park ๐
