I don't know if I've mentioned this yet, but I cycled across the country in two days last week and it was a great chance to get back in the saddle to lead tonight's bike-themed Group Run with Recyke Y Bike.
Hazel and I both cycled to the task tonight while the runners took on the short sharp hills to Recyke. It was great to have Melvyn along for his first ever group run. Kudos!
Recyke Y Bike is an amazing space and a home to hundreds of donated bikes waiting for repairs and new homes. The staff have been out and about in the community in the last few weeks, repairing childrens' bikes and making them safe.
Super task owner Sara met us with two organisation tasks for this evening: sorting and organising inner tubes (Seb and Aimee's job for the night!) and ruthlessly sorting through donated bike accessories, a job for Hazel and Melvyn to get stuck into.
Seb commented that without doubt, Team Sky will have the same procedure with their cyclists of "make a pile of big ones then arrange them from big to small ones". Top technical skills Seb!
A run back to the start in glorious evening sunshine followed before a great stretch off and a great quayside photo. Job done!
We are back at Ouseburn Trust for our group run next week. See you then!

"Whey aye" is Geordie for "of course!"
It was a real team effort tonight as we got involved in a wide range of tasks at Recycke Y' Bike, which we love visiting regularly to help out. Thanks to Sarah the task owner for always being so welcoming.
Congratulations Debbie on reaching 50 GoodGym good deeds tonight! A brilliant achievement!
We helped with: • Moving bikes around the workshop • Dismantling and moving shelves (a lot of problem solving) and bike parts/accessories • Louise and Dan were helping set up and put together something (it looked complicated is all I can say but a huge well done!) that deters pidgeons (a big problem for the building/charity) • Sweeping floors • General tidying up
Recyke y' Bike are an amazing charity (based in Byker and Durham) that specialises in refurbishing donated bikes and selling them at affordable prices to fund their charitable objectives. They rely on volunteers to help with all their brilliant work in the local community.
