Block or report Ikechukwu Christian
Wed 12th Feb at 6:00pm
On a very cold, wet Wednesday evening, the GoodGym crew ran from Heart up to Woodhouse Community Centre. We were tasked with dismantling some raised beds & moving soil & leaves from one bed to another. Shannen and I even managed to do a little litter picking.
It was freezing cold but we got a lot done between us all and it was nice to do something at a different location.
Well done to Helen for leading the run after doing 10 miles today plus a yoga class...you're a legend!
Katie told us about her very exciting trip to the Palace last Wednesday, where she was hobnobbing with the King! How exciting!
Welcome back to Elspeth who joined us for her second session, we hope to see you again soon.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

This afternoon, 10 members of GoodGym Leeds headed down to the new 21 Cafe in Kirkstall to help prepare for their opening with some painting tasks.
21 Co. is part of Sunshine & Smiles, the Leeds Down Syndrome Network. Sunshine & Smiles provides a support network in Leeds for children and young people who have Down Syndrome and their families. Until they were founded by a small group of parents, Leeds did not have a support network to help children and families living with Down Syndrome.
21 Cafe are two cafes and a shop based in Leeds, run for and by people with Down Syndrome to offer training and work experience with the aim of creating job opportunities.
Welcome to newcomers Hannah, Elspeth, Charley & Dini. We hope to see you again soon.

Ikechukwu Christian completed 25 good deeds with GoodGym.
Ikechukwu has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

It was great to get the gang back together tonight! 11 GoodGymers ran 2.5K to the Community Street at Quarry Place to continue with a variety of tasks.
We got a good workout in, moving several heavy planters down the street and into the van. We also continued to build the planter in the bin store, we lined and moved some other planters and then the remaining few of us finished off with some litter picking, filling 3 bags full of rubbish! Jason got to play with a drill again which we all know he enjoys and Fay was a trooper picking litter in a whole street by herself.
I had to laugh at Kat who thought the January challenge was for a whole year, so her target might be slightly unachievable in one month... you have 15 days left Kat, so you might need to run all day, every day to make that target!
What a productive evening! We then ran another 2.5K back to Heart. Thanks to Helen for leading another great run.

This morning 6 dedicated GoodGymers met on a very icey & cold morning to do Woodhouse Moor park run. 4 of us then headed to do a local litter pick around the streets near the park. Jitheesh was very brave picking in his running shorts & top...I got cold just looking at him! We made it a brief task as it was absolutely freezing but still managed 4 bags of litter.
It was also nice to meet Helen's new greyhound Louie, he was a very good boy!
A great start to the January challenge everyone, well done :)
This is the same report as the task was split into two! https://www.goodgym.org/v3/reports/short-brief

A tin of sardines comes to mind....
Tonight we helped out Community Streets with two different groups. We had one group outside doing joinery by building a large planter, we didn't get to finish it but will come back to finish the job. The indoor group then lined several planters in Beth's living room & piled them up in the yard.
We finished up by drinking hot toddy and eating mince pies. Thanks to Beth for hosting and for feeding us at the end!
Welcome to newcomers Stella and Zoe this evening, we hope to see you again in the new year!
Well done to Faye for reaching 10 good deeds tonight.
Happy Christmas all, have a great couple of weeks & we'll see you in 2025 for the January challenge. Thanks for all of your hard work in 2024!
