Bexley Report written by Marianna Chernobrivenko
A pocketful of crocuses, and a mission with meaning — that’s how GoodGym Bexley spent the morning at the Old English Garden in Danson Park.
Armed with trowels, teamwork, and a lot of enthusiasm, we joined forces to plant around 2,000 purple crocus bulbs, kindly donated by the local Rotary Club.
But these weren’t just any bulbs — each one carries a message. The purple crocus is the symbol of Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign, chosen because of the purple dye used to mark the little finger of a child who’s received the polio vaccine during mass immunisation. That little purple pinkie shows they’ve been protected — a small mark with a powerful meaning. 💜
So, in spring Danson Park will be dotted with thousands of tiny reminders of hope, health, and community spirit.
We left with muddy hands, full hearts, and the satisfying thought that every bloom will tell a story of kindness and care — just the GoodGym way. 🌱💪

What a great turn out this Sunday morning! Ten GoodGymers turned up to help Levi with his project at The Mall Bexleyheath.
We met Levi and Conroy who showed us what needed to be done.
We set to work painting the two washrooms, a kitchen and an office! Sounds a lot, it was but we got it done and what a transformation!
Sarah W was on coffee duty and we had the music playing in the background! Lots of conversations about parkruns and football was being had. It was a great way to spend a Sunday morning!
We managed to finish in good time and then went for a bite to eat at the Weatherspoons.
With the next visit secured in our diaries we headed off.

Today was National Fitness Day! We certainly contributed to it by walking/running to the task tonight! Our job was to clean the mini bus inside and out! We all got on with the job helped by two of the residents , David and Ken who were a delight! Team member Amy got us all we needed to make the bus sparkling clean! We can't wait for our next visit!

We all met up outside the Welling Library ready to tackle the persistent weeds 🌱 sprouting alongside the building. Some of us run/walked, others came straight from work.
We set to work straight away and soon got the area looking spick and span. There were some lovely forget-me -nots growing along with some small yellow flowers 🌼 There is always a bonus when doing these tasks. You just have to look out for them. Joining forces with the WWF.
