A Sunday stroll in the wood

Luton Report written by Martin R

8 of Goodgym Luton's finest made their way to support the Friends of Bramingham Park and abcd-in-luton as they embarked on a litter pick, covering a vast area in Bramingham. After the usual litterpick briefing, that we've heard so many times, but is always so important. We all headed out to see how much litter we could find dotted around this local greenspace. The walk took a few of us into Bramingham wood, which is a lovely extension to the park but also a cheeky hiding place for all sorts of litter treats. I'd say with the other participants there must have been easily 20 bags of rubbish collected. Well done everyone, great effort this morning

Having a mare of a time

Luton Report written by Rebecca (She/Her)

A much bigger group of GoodGym volunteers than last month supported the friends of Stopsley common to pick litter and enjoy a scenic walk.

Highlights included a mare and her foal, the buttercups, an orchid and wonderful panoramic views of Luton.

Join us next month for the purple orchids in bloom across the common!

Keeping it all contained

Luton Report written by Martin R

6 goodgymers met at Leagrave Park this evening to help to tidy away the Square Garden. We moved lots of bags that had old gazeebo covers and loaded up the shipping container with chairs and other bits and bobs.

6 for dinner and an early celebration

Luton Report written by Martin R

Tonight at Foodcycle, GoodGym Luton was represented very well . 2 kitchen staff and 4 host helped the wider team serve 46 meals and 2 take aways. The menu this evening was a beautiful mixed salad 🥗 and baked curried chickpeas on toast for starter, an amazing cheesey vegetable pasta bake and dessert was malt loaf with fruit salad. It was well received by he guests and everyone left full and grateful. Just before service, the whole team stopped to sing happy birthday to our very own Mayra who celebrates tomorrow.
It was an amazing effort by all of the team, well done everyone.

Ding dong for Radio 1

Luton Report written by Luton runner

Four of us supported the council by going door to door to speak to the residents of Farley Hill about the Radio 1 Big Weekend. We checked if they had received the details about the road closures and tried to answer any queries they had. It was a tough one as there were some very unhappy residents but we also had some lovely chats with others.

Splish Splosh, GoodGym Carwash!

Luton Report written by David Mansfield

To mark the end of the football season, grassroots football club 61 F.C. hosted a charity tournament and invited three other teams and their families to join in this very summery festival of football.

GoodGym's task for the day was to manage the car parking and run a carwash to raise more funds for charity.

David arrived early to get the cars park and take car washing orders, then later a flock of Goodgym reinforcements swooped into the park by bike 🚲 and got quickly stuck in to washing the cars.

Man of the moment Musa completed his 100th deed with this task! Well done Musa!

With all the team going at the cars with gusto it was a race to keep clean buckets of water coming! We lost count of cars but it was about 10 in the end and we collected a nice bunch of donations and got fed from the BBQ for our efforts.
