A Clean Swing

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner

Juli, Dominic, Karin, Anna and Sheila met at the amazing Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP). This facility provides safe outdoor and indoor play space for children and adults with any type of disability. Taskowner Alan had a list of jobs for us, which all involved cleaning. Firstly, some fencing at the crazy golf area, which had got covered in moss. We then moved on to cleaning the picnic tables and benches, which were dotted throughout the grounds, plus some wood railings supporting a roof above a swing. Finally we took on a double swing seat. All are now clean and ready for a fresh lick of paint. Great work, team!

Karin completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Karin was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Finding the Braywick Motorways

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner

Due to continued flooding at Ockwells, our group of intrepid volunteers were re-deployed to Braywick Park. It was great to be able to welcome Karin to her first ever Goodgym session, and Angela to her second. A warm welcome to you both. We armed ourselves with shovels and spades, and made our way down into the park. Our task was to clear the mud and leaf litter from the sides of the paths to make it safer for walkers, runners and cyclists. We were amazed by how wide the paths really are, and we got appreciative comments and thanks from pretty much everyone who passed by. We have released Braywick's hidden motorways! There is more that can be done, especially along the Cut to make it safer for parkrunners, but we have made a great start.
