On my 150th good deed, we met at Heart and Helen took the group on a 4.5K run through Beckett Park on the way to Shire Oaks primary school. We were there to finish off the painting for the sensory garden that we started in September. Jason arrived early to take apart an old bench (thank you) & then spent most of the session up a ladder! We managed to get the second coat of paint on the walls in good time and it looks loads better! Janie gave us flapjack & tea...we're not used to this kind of service. Thank you!

Tonight we had to split the group in two but we missed being part of a full group!
Helen, Amy, Alan & I did leafletting for Headingley Development Trust. We were promoting both Headingley Greengrocers & the Natural Foodstore. These are community run shops, funded by the Development Fund.
The rest of the group headed up to Rainbow Junction at All Hallows Church. We had a quick jog there, met Jules and Saul and then started working on digging up a hilly patch that they want to turn into tiered veggie plots. We were each armed with a mattock and got digging - it was a great work out. Lauren also had a go on the streamer to clear some of the longer grass - which she said gave her flash backs to earning her pocket money. Then thankfully the sunset reminded us that we should probably be heading again and we jogged back again.
We're looking forward to getting the gang back together next week, but thanks all for chipping in.

...you had to be there for that one!!
Tonight we had a new task & headed up to Shire Oak Primary School to help paint the walls for the new sensory outdoor classroom. We got to work & managed to do all the weeding too. The walls will need another coat, so we're going back in October to finish the job.
Lots of amusing conversations were had with topics including eyebrows, beards, tents blowing away, the US ambassador and comedy writing! Oh and a phoneless chimney sweep...
Thanks for a great evening all :)

Christian was in his element tonight, he was climbing and sawing trees and playing football with local kids.
The group headed up to Beckhill Community Garden to trim the Ivy from the tree, tidy up the weeping willow & we then put the cuttings onto the dead hedge we made a few weeks ago.
The rest of the gang weeded and trimmed tomatoes. We were then sent home with some Chicken wood mushrooms, runner beans, yellow cucumbers & courgettes. Thanks Lyn!
Helen took the group on a magical mystery tour on the way back!
We said goodbye to Katie who's going travelling for 3 months. Have fun Katie and see you at Christmas!
