What a glorious morning we had at Mycenae Gardens yesterday! After joining a post Junior Parkrun coffee with those double deeding heroes amongst us, we had a warm up and quick discussion on what we're looking forward to this winter. Answers ranged from mulled wine to winter being over!
Twelve runners set off on the 3km run, including Roshan who completed his first ever good deed with us - great to have you along Roshan! On arrival, after a briefing from the amazing Fiona we got straight to work.
The task for the day was pruning bushes and low-hanging branches, then dragging the cuttings over to the dead hedge. Everyone pitched in, weaving branches into the hedge to reinforce it and make it sturdy. Seamless teamwork and the hour flew by faster than we expected.
With the hard work done and a few thorny fingers to prove it, we rounded things off with the best reward: coffee and cake. And just when we thought the morning couldn’t get any better, Ceci choreographed some dances to make it an extra memorable session (check Instagram for those!).
I absolutely love our community and how we all bring something different to make it special 😁
Next up: This Wednesday we’ll be painting at Brooklands
On Saturday we've got Talk and Tidy with the friends of hornfair park And maintenance at Westcombe Woodlands.
Until next time! ❤️

We were blessed with yet another morning of sunshine at Hornfair Junior parkrun, and it truly made all the difference. The bright weather brought an extra spark of energy as we supported the event and cheered on the young runners through a smooth and cheerful session.
A big congratulations goes to the two young runners who received their milestone wristband's. One of them reached an astounding 200 runs, an achievement that deserves every bit of celebration. The post-event cakes shared among volunteers and families made the milestone even sweeter.
Once our first task wrapped up, we continued heading over to the Old Cottage Café. With the usual friendly team, we enjoyed a well-earned coffee and a catch-up before heading off to the next mission of the day: gardening at Mycenae Garden. We were pleased to see such a strong sign-up—clearly the sunshine had everyone motivated!
All in all, it was another wonderfully spent Saturday—sunshine, community, coffee, and good deeds all perfectly ‘park-run’ together. Here’s to the next one!

What a wet morning to begin with, but Hornfair Junior parkrun was in safe hands thanks to a full team of volunteers — including two brilliant helpers from GoodGym. As the saying goes, parkrun goes ahead rain or shine, and today proved it: it rained, it stopped, it brightened, and we even finished with a rainbow!
Despite the changing skies, it was another fantastic event filled with energy and smiles. A huge well done to all the children who took part — you’re all amazing! We’d love to see even more people get involved, so if you’re thinking about volunteering at junior parkrun, we highly recommend giving it a try.

The weather was awful—wet, with light rain and cold start but everyone stayed positive, showed commitment, and made the event a success anyway.

This morning, six wonderful GoodGymers joined the regular Hornfair Junior parkrun volunteer team to help make another event run smoothly. From cheering to guiding to keeping everything on track, everyone brought great energy and big smiles.
Another great Sunday morning spent supporting the juniors, the community, and each other. 🫶🏼

Two GoodGymers joined forces with the other dedicated parkrun volunteers to help support the junior parkrunners, ensuring their safety and making sure they had a fun, memorable experience.
The love and enthusiasm for junior parkrun continue to shine, no matter the weather! Despite the chilly morning, participants and volunteers alike were unstoppable, with sunshine greeting everyone as the event kicked off. It was truly heartwarming to see the dedication of siblings who came out to support each other. Not only were they cheered on by their parents, but they also came prepared with a positive attitude, ready to enjoy the event together.
One of the highlights was the warm-up session, which was led by some of the children themselves. It was a wonderful sight to see young participants confidently guiding the group and setting the tone for the event.
What truly captured the spirit of the day, though, was the way the younger siblings supported their older ones. It was so cute watching the little legs in their dresses racing alongside their older brothers and sisters, offering encouragement with every stride. It was clear that these young athletes are already learning the importance of teamwork and support at a very early age.
A special mention goes to two children who completed their 11th junior parkrun and earned their well-deserved wristbands. Congratulations on reaching that milestone.
It’s always a joy to be part of these events—so glad I came! What a fantastic way to kick off the day.
Until next time. Cecilia D 🍀

The Goodgymers have been out and about again this week, taking part in parkrun volunteering roles. Linda took the lead as Run Director, making sure everything ran smoothly and safely. Roles were well allocated, and I positioned myself near the café—joined by *Mimi. I was one of the marshals, cheering on the runners and great to spot some familiar faces out there — a few GoodGymers were running too! It was another fantastic morning for a run—blessed with sunshine, though it did turn a little nippy toward the end! All in all, what a great way to start my Saturday—being outdoors, giving back, and feeling part of the community.
Not tried parkrun volunteering yet? You should — it’s loads of fun and totally worth it!
Till next time, Cecilia
