Woohoo - new attendance record!
An awesome 13 of you joined me as we met at Willesden Sports Centre for another week and we got a record crowd since I've been the trainer - thank you all so much! Welcome to Lorraine who joined GoodGym for the first time tonight, Jacqui whose first run it was in Brent and Dinesh back for his first run with us since January!
Record Attendance
Tonight we were helping Queens Park Community Council (QPCC) deliver their local community magazine 'Queens Park Voice'. We had ~3km journey to Ashmore Road just south of Queens Park where we met Emma and Lindsey from QPCC. Emma had kindly brought down all the copies of the magazines we were delivering and some additional leaflets that would be going with them. Lindsey then met us and brought with her some canvas bags to help us with delivery and some treats in the form of Capri Suns, Penguin bars and some grapes - lovely!
We had three roads to work on, Ashmore, Portnall and Bravington, we split into three groups grabbed a load of magazines and flyers and set to work delivering to either side of the roads. With many of the houses split into flats there were a surprisingly large number of magazines to be delivered and all the groups had to come back to replenish their stocks. With no-one wanting to leave their roads completed we worked for a good 45 minutes and we got all the streets done! Amazing work and a massive help to QPCC who would normally have got these magazines delivered by their own volunteers and staff. Lindsey reckoned we got through the work of a week in one evening - amazing effort everyone!
Treats!
While we waited for everyone to get back together everyone helped themselves to some of the treats, the Capri-Suns going down particularly well. We then grabbed a leaflet each for a big group photo and said our goodbye's and made Lindsey promise she would join us for a run soon! With that we headed back to base, another ~3km smashed through in 20mins, stretched off and then headed off into the night.
Thanks for all your efforts tonight especially working a little later to get everything done. Tonight was also the debut of my personalised headband - i think it went down a storm... we want some GoodGym ones now!
Next week we are off to Harlesden to help the Canal and River Trust, it's a long one at 4km each way but it's always a great task - sign up here now!
Cheers, Pritesh
