Marcos Castro earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.

Marcos completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Marcos was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

The Great Quaker Kitchen Clean-Up: GoodGym's Final Mission of the Year!

Kingston upon Thames Report written by Jana

Tonight marked the grand finale for GoodGym Kingston's community missions this year, and what better way to wrap things up than with a good old scrub and sparkle? The task? Transform the Quaker Centre kitchen in just one hour as a big "thank you" for generously lending their storage space.

Armed with enthusiasm and elbow grease, Luke, Marcos, Tom, and Jana dived into action. Cupboards were wiped, fridges shined, and floors polished until the kitchen gleamed like never before. A sparkling finish for a year of great teamwork and community spirit!

Deck the walls with plastic stickers! Fa la la la la la la la la

Kingston upon Thames Report written by Julie

Tonight we had our annual visit to SeeAbility to help bring some Christmas cheer to this supported living home. After a slightly longer run from the Quaker Centre, we arrived to a welcome from Martel who introduced everyone to the residents. With our Santa hats on we were ready to get started.

Luke, Marcos, Sabir and Petra headed outside to carefully put up the fairy lights around the house. Claire and Julie got started with the Christmas tree. It was a bit tricky to find the right parts in the right order, but we had some great help from the residents putting on the baubles and tinsel. Anna, Jana, Ben, Jane and Rachel got their creative juices flowing and put up the window stickers showing some beautiful festive scenes.

Fuelled by some tasty mince pies (thank you Martel), we soon had the house decorated and full of festive cheer, with a few minutes left for a quick dance around the newly decorated Christmas tree. Then it was off to The Antelope to enjoy some Christmas food and drinks.

We’re never tyred of visiting Full Cycle

Kingston upon Thames Report written by Julie

Tonight’s task was a visit to Full Cycle to help out the Gary and the team with clearing a few jobs from their to do list.

Emma and Luke teamed up using the air compressor to pump up a pile of inner tubes to test them for leaks. Maliyana and Marcos got the old inner tubes rolled up and ready for recycling (with a quick break for recycling bag related photo opportunities!) The rest of the team were busy cleaning up the dirt and cobwebs from the donated bikes, ready for them to be fixed up and sent to their new homes.

We had a wheelie good time but after an hour we were tyred out. We said goodbye to Gary and set off for our run back to the Quaker Centre, exploring a brand new route back.

There’s always so many odd jobs to do here, looking forward to our next visit.

Welcome Maliyana! Great work on your first task with us.

Happy trellis... Until we mulch again

Kingston upon Thames Report written by Jade

We were lucky with the weather today as the temperature improved and the rain stopped ahead of the start of the group run and task at Jubilee Square. In arrival we met with Danni and we're briefed on 3 new jobs as the mulch hadn't arrived.

Luke and Petra started on the bunting and signage, Megan and Ben got busy with the trellis construction, and Jade and Marcos took to the litter picking and general tidy up of the beds like pros.

The remainder of the team arrived to help and we were soon done, proving that many hands make light work.

With time for a quick workout session including a few star jumps and we were packed up and on our way before the cold could get us.

Some of the team will be back to help with the mulch when it arrives. Thanks to Danni for having us
