There were plenty of diggers for today's GoodGym task, both the human and mechanical kind.
Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) the latter were not available for our use, so we set about with picks and spades to continue with our ongoing mission to clear the Riverside Way of the dumped soil and rubble that have been blocking it for a number of years.
And what progress we made! A couple of hours of picking and shoveling saw the path re-instated over a distance of about ten metres. Great work from today's team of Louise Galvin, Ben Godfrey, Tom, Thom Wood, SallyAnn Maish and Robert Armitage. Top effort folks, today's task masters Jeff and Kim from Greenstreams pronounced themselves very impressed with our work. There is of course always more work to be done on the Riverside Way and we'll be returning later in the summer for another session.

Robert Armitage earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Robert completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Robert was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

The Riverside Way is looking a little clearer today following an Saturday morning assault by the Huddersfield GoodGym crew. Not only was the boardwalk unblocked, saplings were sawn, brambles bashed, and litter lifted by the GoodGymmers and volunteers from Greenstreams who help maintain the Riverside Way.
Thanks to characteristic GoodGym enthusiasm and an awesome array of tools provided by Jeff Keelyside from Greenstreams, two hours were more than ample to give the section of Riverside Way a makeover and ensure it is once again accessible for local people to use.
Thanks to Zena Whalley, Ben Godfrey, Thom Wood and GoodGym first timer Robert Armitage for yet another GoodGym job done this morning.
