What a great turnout for tonights task - thank you!
We welcomed back Joanne tonight who brought along her partner Ben to his first task, but hopefully first of many!
We quickly set about the job of cutting strips of paper into the specified size, then wrote some questionable jokes on the back! There were different methods- Ben had an efficient way of cutting, whilst team Babs and Claire divided into odds and evens.
Time flew by, and fueled by pizza, we managed to make 6 sets of 50 ready to be sent off to CAMHS to support young people in hospital at Christmas.
Great work for a great cause.

Tonight's social run was a short and sweet one - Rich led a faster 5k group whilst Vicky's group did a more leisurely 3k.
Back in plenty of time for paper chains at the pub!
Friday 14th November

Sam Dredge cheered by other people 25 times.
Sam is part of a crowd that's making a huge noise. Sam has been cheered by 25 people - that's a round of applause just on their own. We hope they keep it up.

Storm Claudia was visiting, but she couldn't curb GoodGym York's enthusiasm. Michal was magnificent, providing hot tea & cookies to warm us up pre & post task. We planted daffodil bulbs on a virtually vertical steep grassy bank. It rained all day, we arrived soaked so the continuing rain didn't dampen our spirits as we chatted. We dug holes & planted bulbs, but our bags just didn't seem to be emptying. Sam had a lightbulb moment & so we increased the number of bulbs per hollow - otherwise we'd still be there! Nikki won the accolade for muddiest but hardiest as she was clad in running shorts. Hopefully we may return on bright sunny spring day to see, "A crowd, a host of golden daffodils" as a famous poet once said.

The main task was to clear the leaves from the basketball court and paths to stop them getting slippery. We started by lifting up a couple of the leaf bins to see if there was any leaf mulch that could be dug onto the beds. There was a small amount of older matter but it was mostly very dry. Becca dug a wheelbarrow full of the best bits into the beds. Amy and Laura started by emptying and resetting two of the leaf bins. Sam and Barbara swept the basketball court and David swept and cleared around the drains and attempted to unblock them of soil. Whilst all this was going on Jane pruned the two large apple trees, the blackcurrant bush and the Jasmine. Once the basketball court was mostly clear we managed to clear most of the leaves from the paths and start clearing some of the beds before the end of the hour.
