GoodGym: Your mission if you choose to accept it is to create a team of volunteers for the inaugral York Community Woodland parkun without letting everyone know that there is such a thing as the York Community Woodland parkun and definitely not letting anyone know when it is!
By means of a diversionary task for the York Knavesmire parkrun (a deception so good that Lucy actually did volunteer for the Knavesmire) and a WhatsApp group that started out life as the Secret Seven before becoming the Furtive Fourteen we gathered a band of the Trusted.
Despite keeping everything hush hush until 8pm on Friday nearly 350 folk turned up and the car park was soon full.
Team GG course checked, marshalled, car parked, funnel managed and barcode scanned and made sure the event was a cracker - a beautiful way to start the last day of the January challenge!

A hardy bunch of GG Yorkies assembled to help out the annual Brass Monkey half marathon race once again. Various roles were covered including marshalling and manning the water stations. One not so hardy GG-er (me) was nice and dry as I was on baggage duty for the first time and it was great fun! There were several GG folk running and lots of familiar faces from other local running clubs. Well done to everyone for doing a great job out in the rain this morning - your support was very much appreciated by all the runners.

We were met by Candy and colleague from Books for Everyone York at the stable in Bishopthorpe which is now home to a large collection of donated books. Our job was to sort through and remove any ones that were too tatty, missing bits or innapropriate and put them into boxes in categories - fiction, non-fiction, biographies etc. These were then neatly piled up back into the stable on one side so that it will be obvious to other volunteers who can continue what we've started. Once sorted the books will be handed out to homeless people on the streets of York.
