A glorious Tuesday evening at the allotments surrounded by wonderful company..it was great to see an expectant mum sowing some kale seeds - the hard work weāve been doing was to prepare the beds for new and expectant mums to use as a therapy garden. Tonight we ploughed through plot 4 to finish the job off to allow the mums to start getting to work!
Tonight though was a special night, it was Kam 100th good deed š
Now Kam has been a member for a while and weāve done many a task together, weāve run together but there are certain things I didnāt know about Kam..
Here are Kamās Top 10 facts:
Sheās a Brummie at heart ā¤ļøā¦ born and bought up but left the Black Country to become a;
Wessexā¦ she lived in West Sussex for 23 years before becoming a;
Sloughie ā¦ since 2018 sheās been learning how to walk like us and talk like us;
Until she moved to Windsor to become the Queenās Neighbour;
In 1994 she went to Glastonbury to seeā¦. Wait for itā¦. Oasis, Metallics, Blur, Kasabian, M People, Beastie Boys and Dolly Parton just to name a few;
Kam, alongside Pam are our go to for gardening advice! She knows her roots from her shoots and her weeds from her seeds;
Sheās a scientist!!!! Which makes sense as she knows about ants from gardening and;
Bodies from her weekly good deeds at the vaccine Centreā¦ anty-bodies (get it!?);
For her 50th year she decided to go on a solo holiday to Nepal to trek the Himalayaās;
And best of all, she joined us in 2018 when she was on the search for a run group and has never looked back (in anger)!
Huge well done Kam on reaching this brilliant milestone!
We are taking a little break from the allotments task now for a couple of weeks. We will plan another session in early July for the keen gardeners.

A sunny blaring session at the allotment this evening, with the usual Motley Crew and Mabu joining us for the first time on this task.
We were continuing to dig up plot number 3 and pull out the pesky weeds, though we let the lavender and the shard stay firmly rooted in place.
The chat this evening was all about our exciting Pride vs Slough Half Marathon relay in a few weeks time. With even Seb and Mabu looking to sign up, its going to be a great race!
With Jean not there today, it was over to Kam to relay all her knowledge on plants and floor coverings for Sandy's new pad! Though i think we missed a trick - as a DJ... she doesn't need wood flooring, she needs VINYL floors! Get it?!
Next week we will be back at the allotments for our last session for a few weeks (we will be back!)

It was lovely to be back at the allotment. We were working on the original plot that we started on many many months ago. As with anything in life, if you donāt maintain it , it gets out of hand... and the weeds were back ... not nearly as high as before but still a thymely reminder not to loose the plot! Keep onto of your weeds!
Regular gardeners Pam and Kam knew the difference between a bush and a weed, whereas I would never parsley the test on a gardening exam! Clearly no Charlie Dimmick!
World Affairs and just affairs in general
As we dug and pulled and picked out the weeds we chatted about anything and everything. The convo went from Eurovision and nil points to Borisā alleged affair, Edwina and John Majorās affair (poor Norma), thankful we donāt have Trump but sad we donāt have Jacinda.
A day in the leaf of Jean
There is never a dill moment when Jean is at a task. Firstly, she told us how at this moment in time, she was on German TV!!
That was a bit mulch for my brain to take as clearly she was standing right there in front of me!
She explained how her Opera Singer Son was performing in Germany and the TV presenter had interviewed Jean earlier on that day, as heād met her in the past and wanted to know how she was!
The conversation then went into WW2 and where Jean was during that period. She told us that as she lived in Cranford she stayed at home and wasnāt sent to the countryside. She remembers when doodlebugs used to fly overhead and hover over an area where they would release the missiles! Can you imagine that! Love listening to Jeanās stories
Already looking forward to next weeks episode of allot-enders

Nice to see our runners braving this week weather down at the Stoke Road Alottments, we were all over the Rainbow not moon tonight. Weeding the second patch for our expectant mummies, Jean even took some lovely green home for her turtle.
Jenny was back with us with her 100 DEED T-Shirt, congratulations again.
Finally Claire makes her first ever good deed with us, Claire is use to dumb bells, but she dealt herself ACE of SPADES.
We look forward to seeing you next Tuesday.

8 runners ready to take a turn of the grounds, Sara,Pam, Seb and Gauri sprouted from the roots to the nettting. Our lovely Jean chose to take a few roots home for her Turtle.
Kam,Agnija and Sutyee helped turn the mud over and tackle the weeds.

Seb Barnett earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Seb completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Seb was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

It was one of those strange days where it was sunny one minute then windy then downpour then sunny again!
At 1pm Seb, who is our task owner and now Goodgym member (wohoo!), messaged me to ask if we should cancel
No way hose say I said!
Its always sunny in Slough and boy did the sun not let us down!
There was a gray cloud over us for the whole time but it behaved itself!
Plotting a plan
We were continuing to plough the plot from the other week. Weed turned over the top half of it already so today was all about the bottom.
Jean was on a mission to get some potatoes for her dinner tonight, whilst Agni told us all about her travels and life story.
Thats what I love about GoodGym sessions, there is always a story to tell and a tale to listen to.
We are back out tomorrow night at Antz Kids and hopefully back at the allotments next week (task will be uploaded once we get the go ahead)!
