22 Westminster GoodGymers ran 9k to help One Big Family Homeless Charity.
Amazing to see so many first timers and such a top turnout for the final session in the January Challenge!!
Westminster certainly smashed our GoodDeed target!! Might be tantalisingly just short to the distance target after tonight’s numbers get crunched!!
So apart from our super strong running it is fair to say that the task didn’t go to plan!! With task owner Mike laid up in bed with a very bad back Harley was in charge and in his excitement made all the food before we go to the estate! Determined to do our bit we helped carry as much of the food, drink and kit for the evening up to Victoria and set up ready to serve the local homeless community with some sustenance for the evening!! A rescue group had to make a dash back to the youth club as cups had been left behind, a great way to keep warm and get some extra running distance in!!
While the rest of the group served food and drink meeting some very colourful characters along the way with unique coffee preferences!!
With time getting short we zipped back to base trying a new route for the fun of it and powered through Green Park and back to base a little late but fitter and happier!!
Well done to all the first timers!! Keep coming back it gets easier and warmer (I hope!!).
Be great to see you all again for a session next week when we help Open Age who facilitate activities for Westminsters over 55’s.
Have a great week

13 rain fearing GoodGymers ran 5k to St Andrews Youth Club to sort out the huge garage with a New Year Clear our.
With the crazy downpour of the day there was a sigh of relief when just in the nick of time the clouds cleared and the rain stopped!
So with a hop, Skip and a jump over puddles we made our way down through a royal park and past a palace or two to meet Adrian and everyone at the amazing and vibrant St Andrews Youth Club.
Great to have a couple of GoodGym first timers along for the run to a firm Westminster favourite!
Entering the garage there was a heap of kit that had seen better days and with the new shelving coming in a week or so now was the time to clear ship! Now that is easier said than done as Adrian loves to hold onto everything he can but with a little encouragement a nice size pile of unused and mostly broken stuff ready for the refuse collectors in the morning!
A little rejig of the current cupboards allowed us to store away a lot of the bulky sports kit and the garage was transformed in 35 effective minutes of GoodGyming!!
To celebrate our work we took a trip down to the newly painted and decorated SW1 Gym and hit up 8 minutes of serious full body conditioning!! Really having to dig deep to hang on for the final static squat off!!
Off we ran into the Central London night with a Spring in our step (well mentally at least after the leg workout) getting back to base in good time for a stretch and round of applause!!
Thanks for coming out and hope you had a good time! Hope to see you again next week for some more Fun on the Run when we visit ** One Big Family** Homeless Charity.
Have a great week!
