Our Bags were a Litter Heavy today ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜€

Bexley Report written by Tim Dickson

Meeting at the usual spot the litter picking started straight away with lots of satisfying cans right from the start. Lesnes treated us with muddy paths making the hills a little slippery but the didn't stop us climbing the banks to liberate the bushes from all the rubbish that was stuck in there.

Our route today took us up the usual hills but our conversation help make light work of them. We were lucky to as it started to rain as we arrived at the finish.

See you at the next one team ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

A very English Garden ๐Ÿชด

Bexley Report written by Tim Dickson

Another beautiful morning at the gardens. Today our task was to weed around the already beautiful flowers as well as getting rid of any dead flower heads and rubbish.

No hose pipe this session. Well done team ๏™Œ

GoodGym springing into action!

Bexley Report written by Sarah Wren

What a glorious spring morning for a spot of gardening.

It was our monthly visit to help the regular volunteers of the Friends of the Old English Gardens in Danson Park. The sun was shining and the gardens were looking gorgeous.

Nicky from the Friends assigned our tasks: Johnny and Sarah set about edging the lawn and weeding the border on circular flower bed 15, while Michelle, Suzie and Francis got stuck into weeding the flower beds along the pergola path.

In the background lots of families were also enjoying the Gardens, on an Easter Egg Hunt. We might even have found a few eggs ourselves...

Community Cape

Suzie Fennemore earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.

Suzie completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Suzie was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

When the (wood)chips are down

Bexley Report written by Sarah Wren

This was our third session working on the Woodland Walk, alongside the lovely volunteers from the Friends of Danson Park. We'd completed two-thirds of the main path on the previous occasions, so the aim today was to tackle the remaining section.

It was Suzie's first ever GoodGym task and we all quickly fell into a routine - some of us shoveling woodchips into wheelbarrows for others to ferry them to the path where we spread them out creating a springy new surface for park users to enjoy.

With speed shoveling, whizzy wheelbarrowing and rapid raking the finished path was looking fab by the end of the morning.

We had a real sense of a good-job-well-done as we adjourned to The Stables where the management treated us to hot drinks while we had a natter.

The Friends of Danson Park are so welcoming and great company, and we're already looking forward to going back on Saturday 12 March to tackle the side paths. Come and join us!
