This week's Wednesday evening task was daffodil bulb planting in the Carter Estate in Marston. Last year we made a start on planting daffodil bulbs in the area, and this week we were back to extend what we started in 2019 along a few more roads. Sadly, lockdown meant we missed seeing the flowers last spring, so hopefully we'll have a chance to check them out in 2021.

We paired up for efficiency, trying to ensure everyone made a new friend in the process, and worked fast to get bulbs planted along Cavendish Drive, Mortimer Drive, Salford Road, and The Link, with Alistair from Marston Community Garden directing operations and our very own Mark Lygo doing double-duty as GoodGym Task Force and local Councillor.

Channeling Monty Don, there's no messing when GoodGym's involved: we planted 100kgs of bulbs in one hour. Better than lifting weights in the gym any day! For bonus brownie points we also collected up a bag of litter from the same streets.

We work with Marston Community Garden on their projects regularly. They are a community allotment, supported by the City Council, who also take on other tasks such as bulb planting, tree planting, sowing wild flower seeds around the Marston Area. Their Facebook page is here.

Well done to Cassy for completing your 10th GoodGym Good Deed!

Welcome to Anna, Ffion, Laura and Tilly. Good to meet you all!
