Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Shona Buchanan
It was great to have Emma,Ksu and Abigail join us for the first time tonight. And it was another massive night of celebration. This time it was due to the whole lotta deeds that our Bristol GoodGymers have been racking up, we were celebrating: TWO GoodGym centurions, one DOUBLE centurion and one TRIPLE centurion. That's almost 5% of all of the deeds Bristol has ever done! What a lot of good deed counting (and cake), but first we had some good to do...
Big GoodGym fans
After channeling our inner '80s Aerobics Stars for our warm-up (some more than others), Alice was fresh from her flight back from her hols to lead a group to our regular task, Emmaus, which was even more popular than usual due to lure of it's indoor task appeal on this rainy night. Xanne set the group to work clearing walkways to make them safe in the warehouse and sorting all of the electricals for recycling. There were lots of fans, excluding Darren (see photo evidence).
Tyring work
The rest of us set off to St Paul's Adventure Playground where Guy had some big tasks for us to get set into. We were to build a half-metre deep tunnel to put seven large tyres in to build a protective barrier around the zipline. Pick-axes, shovels and pitchforks at the ready, the team got stuck in with the trench while another group were working on moving a massive concrete pipe from one end of the playground to another to extend a tunnel. The concrete hamster-wheel engineers had a tough job on their hands which involved digging the concrete out, rolling it all around the playground then digging a hole for it to fit in at the other end. While the others were busy with this, Emma did a great job of litter-picking and sweeping the entire playground following their fundraiser a few weekends ago.
A Whale of a time
After half an hour of hard work, one concrete circle was ready to be added to the tunnel and a trench was forming well, ready for the children to finish in the coming weeks before we come back to the playground next month. We all headed back, snuck in some sneaky sprints then gathered in to congratulate tonight's landmark deeders. Matt reached his 300th Good Deed at Saturday's litter-pick! On the same day, Darren got to 100 Good Deeds just before his baby is due - good timing!
After Darren had battled with putting on the centurion outfit, he galloped it round to pass it straight on to Maria who combined birthday celebrations with her 100th Good Deed tonight too! Then finally it was time to celebrate Alice who reached her 200th Good Deed tonight and we presented her personalised 200 t-shirt to her, which she received by unknowlingly doing the exact same face as is printed on it! MASSIVE well done everyone!
Tonight's pun credits go to Gary, Clo and Matt ๐
