Congratulations were in order for our area activator Amy as we celebrated her 250th good deed at our Wednesday group run at Braywick Nature Centre.

In traditional GoodGym Windsor & Maidenhead style, we have a little rhyme to explain just why we think she’s Amy-zing…

This is a poem about the famous Amy Lovell,

Amongst other things, you may find her holding a shovel.

Our glorious leader and a pun-derful friend,

She could never ever drive us round the bend.

Back in February 2020 little did she know,

That an army of goodgymmers would grow and grow.

Not only an army but a second place team,

In the January challenge, we’re the cream of the cream.

Not even a pandemic could stop this determined girl,

She led us through lockdown with a skip and a twirl.

Her competitive spirit cannot be ignored,

Especially when she’s running laps at Endure.

Always smiling and always on the go,

If you spend time with Amy life never goes slow.

Except a recent hiccup has slowed down her pace,

But it won’t be long before she’s ready to race.

She’s a parent governor and a mum of four,

Though she never complains, nothing is ever a chore.

But we all sometimes need a way to escape,

So GoodGym helped this superhero to wear her cape.

She got her wings and now she’s on 250,

I think you’ll agree that’s rather nifty.

Thank you for leading the way and shining your light,

We are behind you Amy, day or night!

Thank you Amy for being an inspiring leader and great friend, and for everything you do to make GoodGym welcoming and fun for us all.

(Thanks also to Sophie for the poem, Sheila for the medal, and Georgeta, Rachel and Lou for the cakes!)

Braywick Nature Centre
A community hub to promote awareness of the natural environment.

Working in partnership with Groundwork South, Braywick Nature Centre acts as a community hub to promote awareness of the natural environment with events, walks and talks across the borough, and through educational sessions for school, youth and other groups. The service also offers support for local conservation and amenity groups. The nature centre houses displays and exhibitions on wildlife, sustainability and local history, and has a large classroom for use by schools and other groups and is only open to the public when events are taking place. The nature centre is situated in an old stable block, originally part of the estate belonging to Braywick Lodge. The 19th century mansion house was demolished in 1969, however the stables were refurbished in 1989 to provide a centre for environmental activities in the borough.
