We gathered on Millenium Square this morning bright and early to help with the Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk. It was lovely to have Emma from Cardiff with us this morning, who had got there much brighter and earlier to have her welcome talk ahead of being allocated a marshal spot. When I met them, Dave was busy filling Emma in on the best watering holes near her marshal spot - for after, I hope!
The rest of us were met by Roisin and Tom who had donation buckets, photo booths and merchandise for us. We split into pairs and set off around the area, with Dave looking great in his "olden days" cinema tray (but unimpressed at it being called that).
It got much busier during our slot and we soon had lots of people wanting group photos before they set off and additional Alzheimer's Society wrist bands, bags and bangers (also known as bang-sticks, balloons, blowy-up things, clangers, whoopers, doopers and whatever else you could use to describe such an odd item) to add to their blue t-shirts they were already wearing.
After 40 minutes we had met most of the early crowd and Nathalie had almost adopted about 10 dogs. We handed in our goods and wished them good luck for the rest of the day, while most of the group hopped off to Mud Dock for Good Deed 2 of the day!
We are here for anyone affected by dementia in england, Wales and Northern Ireland.
