Plus an extra special cheers has to go to milestone runner HERO HELEN who was on her 200th good deed. AMAZING!

Tonight's task was at our friends Heeley People's Park who had recently had some students in weeding the Chinese garden which has made it look a load better.

To keep the soil rich and weed free it was in need of a good load of wood chip moving from the bottom of the hill to the top....

Enter good gym

We got straight to task filling buckets and wheelbarrows with rich wood chip, we then took it up the very steep hill to the top where the freshly weeded beds awaited. We dumped the chip and the rest of the team spread it around with rakes being careful not to disturb any new or tender shrubs.

Mind those green bits! You mean plants?

After a good load of buckets and barrows the beds were looking well and truely made and we made our way to the bottom of the hill to down tools and head back to base via a park for some paired fitness.

This week we paired up and had one person 'hanging out' whilst their partner did a lap of the park. A couple of rounds and that did it for us, plus a couple of loop backs and wall sits for good measure.

Thanks to everyone for coming along and see you next week for the final GG of the year!

"Making Heeley a better place to be. We want Heeley to be a successful, vibrant and inclusive community; a good place to live, to work, to do business and to visit."

Heeley Development Trust (HDT) is a small, charitable development trust, founded by local volunteers, business people & residents in 1996. We have delivered youth, community, environmental and economic development projects in and around our neighbourhood for the last 20 years. We are working hard, developing a diverse range of income, social enterprises and assets, all with the aim of making Heeley a great place to live, with a real sense of place, pride and community. Our projects include; Heeley People's Park, Sum Studios (saving a Grade 2 listed Victorian School and redeveloping as managed work space – this is bringing jobs and investment into our community), The Heeley Voice - a local magazine and Recycle Bikes – a social enterprise supporting disengaged young people to gain training, confidence, work experience and jobs. If you are interested in any of our projects, would like to get involved or are willing to volunteer any of your time please do not hesitate to contact us or give us your feedback.
